Hi everyone,
I need some advice from postive like minded people.
I trained with ITec in holistic massage a year ago and then found out I was expecting my lovely son, so i did not really start up my business till this November.
Problem is when i trained to do Baby massage this June there were not many people doing it in Watford, now there is lots of people.
I have had a couple of people pretend to be clients but my inner guide told me that something was not right
I feel really low now and need postive advice on building up a business.:)
I want to use my healing to helps others but cannot compete with people who spend a fortune on advertising in the local paper etc.
please can anyone help

Hello Angel,
My friend works as an holistic therapist and often comments on how kind of backward in some respects the city she lives in is, so when I asked her how she managed to become so successful she said she just trusted the clients will come and they did, I know this may sound a little too simplistic but if something is meant to be and we trust it will happen it will.
Also I was a self employed nail technician in the UK and there are tons of things you can do to promote yourself.
1. phone your local small paper and ask if they will do an article on you and the therapies you offer, they are very likely to say yes because smaller, local newspapers often struggle for something to fill the pages, mention in the ad that you are properly qualified because many people have been on short courses (inc nails and all manner of holistic therapies) and people are more likely to trust somebody with an ITEC.
2. A2 flyers can be done on your own computer very cheaply, I found that putting them through doors in your local area works, maybe you could offer the first treatment free or half price and include a paragraph about the many benefits of the service you are offering.
3. Stand outside primary schools, baby clinics, creches and nurseries and anywhere mums go with their children and hand out your leaflets with a warm smile and eye contact
4 ask babywear shops and doctors surgeries if you can leave your flyers on the counter
5 advertising in local newspapers is not as expensive as you think, many of them will negotiate and cut you a deal you can save more money by opting for lineage rather than a box.
6. in your newspaper ad or flyers advertise the fact that you will either give a discount or do a free treamtment to the 'hostess' of a party booking, if this is possible, maybe mum's can get their babies done all at the same time like a mum and baby get together day.
7 if all else fails move to marbella we don't have one here!
Wishing you all the best, let me know how you get on and if I have any more ideas I will write again.
Love

P.S One more thing, sorry it may be a stupid suggestion but have all these people who spend a fortune on advertising got a CRB check number in their ads? If not and you have I know who I would rather phone if I wanted my baby massaged. It is only £27 to get one from your local police station, takes about 3 weeks.

a lot of health visitors and midwives has trained in baby massage in our area
(I am just down the road to you)
try approaching the NCT - they are also quite active in this area - you may have more luck there

Where did you do your training?
Hi Becky,

Maybe i am not pushey anouth I just try to be myself.
Thank you Angelflower
Hi hemelgirl,
NCT cant be seen to promote anyone organisation,
I did my training at MSCM in Rickmansworth, they were quite good but you have to produce the Booklet for parents with little Help.
Tutor was fantastic and so funny but I like more wriitten information and more details.
Bye Angelflower

Hi Becky,
good point I have not put CRB number in my flyers just that I am CRB checked and that I hold a child care qualification
