Hi!

I am a Hungarian kinesiologist (3in1 concepts) and I will move to Wales in September. I have some question about being kinesiologist in the UK.
It is required to be a member of a federation or it is (just) recommended? Can I practise without it? Where can I practise? Can I work at home?
Pleas answer me if you can. Thank you for your help!

Alberta

Hi Alberta, and welcome to Healthypages

I'm not a kinesiologist, but to the best of my knowledge, there's no legal requirement to be registered with any federation, though for insurance purposes it may be beneficial if you are.

As for where you can practice... you can practice anywhere you like, so yes, in your home if you choose, though consideration should be given to registering your therapy room as your business address (if you should go bankrupt then having only the one room registered for the business means that bailiffs can't take assets from elsewhere in the property, not that you're likely to go bankrupt, I'm sure), and also notifying your insurance company that provides your home insurance as they will need to know, otherwise you could invalidate your home insurance.

Hi Alberta,
You can practise in a clinic, but some clinics want their therapists to be members of a professional association; so you would have to check with your local authority to see if there were any restrictions on you working from home. You will also need to check with your home insurance company as it might affect your premium if you are working from home. It is also recommended that you have insurance to cover yourself as a practitioner.
The Kinesiology Federation has a number of 3in1 Concept members and if you do a search on our website you could contact them as well for advice.
You can also find details of membership of the federation too.

I hope this helps.

Hi

As has been said you don't have to belong to a professional association but you might like to have the support that belonging to one brings. And with some you can get insurance through their block policies with insurers, which can be a saving as well.

The Kinesiology Federation recognises a number of different branches of kinesiology including 3in1 Concepts; if you look on their website you could find details of other kinesiologists who might be near you in Wales to meet up with and maybe do exhibitions and/or marketing events with.

Thank you for your answers, I've looked around and I've found an association, who can support me. So Wales, I'm coming 🙂 (As I've seen, there's no 3in1 concepts kinesiologist in Wales, so i'll be alone...) 😎
