Hello
What cream/oil do you use for doing Indian Head Massage? I work the upper back, shoulders and neck before working on the scalp and head.
What oils/creams do you use that absorb quicker into the skin first? I find most people don't like the oil on their hair! It's a little difficult with some of the moves as I may have oil on my hand and might go and place my hands on their head forgetting that some don't like oil on their hair? (hope I'm making sense lol)
Jemma
I use sweet almond oil mainly........but I don;t have the problem you describe. I understand what you mean tho.

Thanks Tashanie, so do you wash your hands before working on the head to ensure you don't get any of the oil on the hair? Or maybe your clients don't mind oil on hair!

I've never needed to yet. I have had a couple of sessions where they didn't want oil on their hair but did want it on their skin and they were not bothered by residual oil.. It hasn't happened that often tho. The residual oil on my hands doesn't seem to bother them...
If I have someone who really doesn't want any oil at all on the hair, then I do it without. Like Tashanie it is rare for my clients to say they don't. Some will ask that I don't apply it directly to the hair, but don't mind some residual but most are happy to have oil used throughout. Like I say though, if they definitely don't want any, I don't use any. I explain how this will effect my ability to glide and do some massage strokes, then I proceed to do the treatment the best I can using more pressure point type techniques on the shoulder and back muscles. It does feel a bit awkward in comparison to the usual smooth flowing treatment but gets easier the more experience you get. HTH 🙂
May be you can try some massage cream containing mint, this creams have a rapid absorption, you can work on the back and neck zone and when you go to the head, only remains the scent of the mint and any other ingredient you choose in combination.
