Can anyone tell me whereI canbuy a pillow to use when giving IHM? I find a normal size pillow too big and a bit difficult to keep in position.
Thank you.

Have you not tried a local Home Store?
RE: Indian Head Massage - Pillows
Dear Kirsten
I bought a lovely one in Debenhams. It's sausage shaped and filled with tiny beads. People find it really comfy. It cost me £10 and it's blue - I cannot remember the brand name but they are very popular at the moment so you should be able to find one in a department store. Alternatively, I know therapists who simply use a rolled up towel to support the client's neck.

I was taught by ITEC, and we were taught without using pillows, as the treatment is done with thwe client sitting in a chair normally,

Hello chid
Do you do some massage on the client's face, and if so do you just lean them back against your body for that bit? I think this is where this thread is coming from. I don't like to lean people back on my tummy because it gurgles a lot and I don't really think they want to listen to it! Also, I am a tallish person so for someone shorter the client might end up resting on the therapists'chest, and for lady therapists this is quite intimate contact.
RE: Indian Head Massage - Pillows
Thank you Jay and Siobhan. I will have a look inthe department stores including Debenhams. Chid, I am also studying with ITEC and the current rulings are that the client must not touch the therapist's body when doing the face and as the head needs to be supported - a pillow is required. As we are all different shapes and sizes I guess it is best to try a variety of pillows/cushions and see what works best. Onething thoughthat ITEC test on is continuity of movements and also to remain in contact with the client so you have to be able to pick up and place the pillow pretty quickly to do this. The contraindication rulings are giving me a bit of a headache as well! I'm halfway through the course so hopefully all will be revealed in good time.
Thank you and have a lovelyChristmas.

RE: Indian Head Massage - Pillows
Hello 'at one'
I was taught that when doing the facial part of the massage that we place a hand towel that is rolled up, to support the neck and of course a barrier between client and 'your tummy'!!!!!!!Merry christmas x
RE: Indian Head Massage - Pillows
Hi Chid,
I was taught to use a rolled up medium sized towel...but that cushion that siobhan has sounds great..and it wouldn't come unrolled either. I''d better hit the stores quick in case it's been snapped up by the January sales!
RE: Indian Head Massage - Pillows
Hi all,
We use a rolled up towel in class, last week I remembered a 'blow up' thing that goes around your neck foruse in airoplanes.Only done one person with it but it worked fine. For hygiene sake you can cover it with a little towel. As it goes around the neck (back and both sides, it gives much better support) and also gives you the 'barrier' between you and your client and as it blows up it is easy to take along anywhere.
I bought this for a tenner or something in a travel shop - sure they are readily available. Hope this gives everybody another option.
Regards,
Jo
