Hello everyone, just signed up, based in deepest Snowdonia.
I'm in the final few weeks of my Indian Head Massage course and wondered if anyone has ever had a client suffer a nose bleed an hour or so after treatment? The client doesn't normally getnose bleeds but does suffer from sinus congestion. Could the release of mucus have triggered a nose bleed or is it just a coincidence? Can't find anything in notes or books and can't ask my tutor as we've finished for Christmas.
Thanks
RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
Welcome to the forum from somebody in the heart of Scotland. I am also in the last stretch of IHM course but unfortuately( for you not my clients!)have not experienced this - I can also not recall this ever having been discussed in any of our classes. My last class for the year was last night so no help from there!I will keep my eyes on your mail with the hope that somebody can come and enlighten us both.
Regards,
Jo

Thanks Jobelle....tried doing a google search for any info on it but nothing came up, so hopefully it's an isolated incident...I'll raise the matter with my tutor in the New Year and let you know what she says.
Thanks for the welcome, it's great to find so many warm, caring people in one place.

RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
Hello Ade
I haven't heard of this happening with IHM. When a client reports something that's happened to them in the time following a treatment I know you can start to wonder if it had anything to do with you. You may never know. Can I ask, had the person had a cold recently? It isn't uncommon to get a nosebleed after having a cold, and in cold weather also perhaps we are more susceptible to them. Anyway, I hope you don't worry too much about it, and as you say checking up with your tutor when you go back to college should help to put your mind at rest. Enjoy the rest of your course, both of you!

Happy New Year to everyone on HP!
Asked my tutor about IHM and nose bleeds and she'd never heard ofthe massage itself causing a nose bleed but that the mucous being released from congested sinuses (which my client had) could possibly causesome bleeding from the nose. She alsosaid, as At One suggested, that a heavy cold could sometimes trigger a nose bleed but that the incident may well have been just a coincidence and nothing to do with the massage at all.
Thanks for your help.
RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
Hi
Has your client been particularly stressed recently or anything? I have never suffered nose bleeds in my life, however, recently i was going through a particularly stressful stage and just got one in the middle of the night for no reason, not had them again since either. It really surprised me as I said I have never had a nose bleed before.
I know you straight away wonder if it is something that you have done but it is just as easily something as simple as stress.

RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
Hi Sass
Yes, my client was very stressed at the time. She'd never had a nose bleed before and thankfully she hasn't had one since....it is very easy to assume that anything that happens is down to your treatment...especially when starting out.
RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
I GUESS IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN AFTER A MASSAGE IT WOULD BE THE MASSAGE. IS SHE PREGNANT? I KNOW THAT DURING PREGNANCY YOU CAN GET NOSE BLEEDS BECAUSE THERE IS EXTRA BLOOD IN THE BODY. STRANGELY ENOUGH, WHENEVER I MASSAGE MY FRIEND SHE GETS A STUFFY NOSE, LIKE A COLD ALMOST. SO I DONT KNOW WHETHER IT WAS THE ESSENTIAL OILS USED OR THE MASSAGE (WHICH WAS ONLY A BACK AND NECK MASSAGE). I HOPE TO ASK MY TUTOR SOON.

RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
This is interesting, as I have given a number of Indian Head Massages, I have never had this happen. I wonder if there is any other problem which is causing the nose bleed and the massage has just brought it to a head. I would be interested to know what others have experienced.
RE: Indian Head Massage - Nose bleed
I had a nose bleed in the middle when i was treating a client (Indian Head Massage), was a bit difficalt but i carrid on and tilted my head back, dont ask me how i finnished it lol, but i got through ok without a drop on the floor or the client lol. I must had looked very strange giveing the treatment, luckly the clieant was semi asleep.

[color="#660066"]Namaste to you all I was given a IHM last nite at college (i am in my last few weeks in reflex) the tutor asked if I wouldnt mind one so off i went and they are in their 7th week of a 17wk course, the girl who was working on me had been off for two weeks with a bad wrist!!!Anyway to cut a long story short she did not have a clue what she was doing my head was being turned all ways and when she put a roll behind my neck I felt very uncomfortable and told her the tutor was loosing her patience at this time anyway with the girls lack of remembering the moves etc after a terrible time (the only way i can describe it) went back to my class and within 1/2 hr i had a nose bleed!!!!of course tutor came running in apologising had to fill an accident form in and she told me that the student would not be allowed to practise n members of the puplic the following week!!my neck felt strange came home woke up this morning very heavy headed and not feeling right and have had a few pains in my head!it has put me off slightly going to do the course at the same college and i would love to know what a real IHM feels like and should i be feeling like this today?!!!even though i know aftercare was only told to drink lots of water asked the student why and she could not give me a direct answer!I know we have all been there but its scary that paying people would be coming in next week to her and she is clearly nowhere near ready!I also found out from the tutor AFTER the event that none of her fellow colleges wanted her to practise on them surley i should of been told that at the start!!!!Ah well the joys eh of training!!!!
Om shanti
