Hi
Could anyone give me advice on giving an IHM on a person with Multiple Sclerosis. A client of mine has regular reflexology treatments but would like to try IHM. I am not too sure on this as MS stems from the brain area and thought it may be too close to have so much going on around the head. I have read conflicting reviews on this subject. The lady in question has fairly advanced MS and is nearly 70 years of age. I obviously wouldn't want to do anything to make it worse for her.
Thank you

Hi Bjay,
I cannot see that you would do any harm to your client if you gave her a very gentle treatment.
Best of luck to you both.

Thank you Paul your answer is very helpful and appreciated.
RE: Indian Head Massage and MS
If she is fine with Reflexology I can't see the problem if you keep it gentle and not too stimulating as there is a school of thought that overstimulation might aggrevate MS symptoms. However, I have quite a young MS suffering client with whom I do Kinesiology which includes accupressure massage and she is doing rather well.
Good luck

Hi
I have a friend/client who l see every week, she sufferes from Primary Progressive MS and she has been having reflexology for a couple of years now,
but l have just started to do indian head massage as well, and she feels so relaxed afterwards, l make sure l use gentle movements...
Just to cover myself l did obtain GP consent before carrying out theses therapies.
