Hi Guys,

I'm just after some advice, I'd really like to learn how to do IHM but I'm worried that I have a contra indication in that I have Psoraisis on my scalp. It's controlled, doesn't hurt, the skin isn't raw or broken (although it does from time to time get really tender behind my ears) and my scalp is dry because of it.

The problem is the courses at my local college are run with a pre requisite that students practice on each other and to be honest it's my embarrassment more than anything that's stopping me.

Do you fair gents and ladies out there know if this really is a show stopper for me?

Thanks in advance

TTxx

Well, you wont catch it, so you may find that people would say it's a localised contraindication and avoid the area, so you may not be able to have that part of the treatment. However, it can help to nourish the tissues, so can be worth treating, but lightly.

Why not massage some oils into your hair at night, just a couple of drops and massage them into the scalp and leave it overnight. I find jojoba works well. Also up your intake of pure water drastically. It may nip a large part of it in the bud before the course and you may feel more confident.

Have a word with the tutor though, I am sure he or she will put your mind at rest.

I get psoriasis on my scalp and hairline, espcially when I'm stressed out. I find that putting some oil (sweet almond or grapeseed) on my hair and scalp overnight really makes a difference. I know it can be embarrassing as people just assume you have dandruff! I've started taking multi-vitamins and getting lots of sleep and found it's much better than it used to be. If you talk to your tutor I'm sure they will be very understanding. 🙂

I get psoriasis behind my right ear, down the neck and little along the hairline. I use aloe vera liquid which seems to help but the more stressed I get the better it gets! Right now there is hardly any - just sat my reflexology exams!
