What's your experience of hypnotherapy newsletters from training schools?

I like to see good quality content that is useful to my practice and not just adverts, investment in me as a reader - not just a sales target, good formatting and organisation, a nice readable font, and most of all, an unsubscribe option!
I've not had great experiences so I'm attempting to put these things right with my newsletter.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on this and other training school newsletters.

Hypnoversity - the one I get from my training school - contains articles from hypnotherapists and details of upcoming courses and CPD. There are no adverts that I can remember. if you PM me your email address I have a copy atm and I can send you a link 🙂

Thanks Sally. I've emailed you. What do you like best about the newsletter? We'll see what we can learn for ours.

Thanks for sending the link Sally. The first thing I liked about this newsletter was the layout and image. It was bright and inviting. It also had proper content. Although there was a sense of advertorial - content pushing towards selling mindfulness teacher training, or towards selling past life regression - it was sensitive to readers, inviting their interest. I think some advertising is fair enough given the effort it takes to put a good newsletter together.

I wasn't so keen on the strength of comments, feeling that a newsletter from a school (authority) should probably be more restrained. The idea that the 'therapy world' is prejudiced against Past Life Therapy is a generalisation, even though there is truth that prejudice occurs. The tutor selling this method claims that 'Past Life Therapy is even more important a therapy process than NLP'. It's an opinion, and he has a right to think it, but due to where the newsletter comes from, the tone is one of facticity. Next issue is on the 'real' story about the effectiveness of gastric banding, it is claimed. Trainers forget (or enjoy) how influential they can be.

I also found the articles too long. In our newsletter, I have considered how people often read on mobiles. I've aimed for rich, interesting content expressed in the smallest space possible. I'll send you a link to our newsletter and welcome your thoughts.
