Hi all,
I have a client with arthritis and she wants hot stones as part of her treatment, but i thought you were not meant to use hot stones for arthritic conditions...although I know people find relief using heat. Can you advise me on this dilemma. Thanks:(:) What is the deal with hot stones and inflammation:confused:

I've been taught that heat is ok to be used BUT should not be used during the inflammation stage of arthritis.

Osteoarthritis is generally considered a cold condition. Rheumatoid is a different matter and can get very hot in flare up.

Heat on an inflamed condition will aggravate the condition it is part of the body's response in some circumstances. If something is inflamed and hot better to apply cold over the area, do not massage either.
