You buy a hot stone heater which looks like a slow cooker, you place the stones in, fill with water and away you go, the water heats up and you monitor the temperature with a thermometer you will get in the kit.

If you start off with hot water out of a kettle, it takes about 20 mins. If you start from cold, then allow 40 mins.

It also depends on the treatment, if you're doing full body and using lots of big stones, then you need more time. But if you're just doing back, neck, shoulders and face, i.e. small stones, then the time is reduced considerably.

I know a lot of therapists don't allow enough time for their stones to heat, and then they cool too quickly. Therefore if you're doing a lot of treatments it's best to have more than one heater and set of stones.

HTH,
Myarka.

Don't do what I did tho and put them on (at a high temp) and go into another room for over an hour with another client. 😮

The reception staff do go in and turn them down if I get waylaid but the new receptionist wasn't to know (my fault, not hers). It's not their job but I have some great staff who really go out their way to help.

When I went into room and took the lid off I had my very own steam room and my HS client was waiting outside. Holy hell, I couldnt even get the stones out (even with gloves and scoops)

Lesson learned.:dft001:

Never leave your tank.
