A good friend of mine is experiencing chronic debilitating back pain from an exposed nerve in his spine. It started about 8 years ago and is getting progressively worse and nothing seems to relieve it. He has done the rounds of chiropractors and osteopaths up and down the country, as well as having MRI scans and attending pain clinics. No surgeon wants to operate and at the moment the only talk is of pain management.
I wondered if homeopathy has anything to offer - he's a bit fed up of trying yet another thing to relieve the pain - however, if a homeopath can tell me that homeopathy has sometihng to offer, I can pass the information on.

I would suggest using Hypericum as an emergency measure. I high dose on a regular basis may help.
Also take Flaxseed oil daily. It will help to calm the nerve.

However, as this is a chronic problem, a full consultation is probably needed to deal with this effectively. No homeopath can give guarantees of success but homeopathy is as likely to be successful as any other treatment. HTH Hom.

Thank you Hom. I had been thinking in terms of a full consultation. However - my friend has already spent a small fortune on chiropractors and osteopaths and looks despairingly when someone asks 'have you tried such and such?' For me to persuade him that homeopathy might be worth a shot, I'd really like to know if a practising homeopath has experience of a similar scenario. He's 68, so there's considerable wear and tear too.

As a fellow back sufferer your thread caught my eye. I too prefer natural methods of pain relief, and I know you ask about homoeopathy, I wondered if your friend has tried a tens machine as I find that can really help with spinal nerve pain.

Sorry- I seem to've missed your last post. The best thing your friend can do is to contact a local homeopath and have a chat before making an appt. Homeopaths are like gps in that we see a whole range of people and conditions and your friend's age and health issue is not necessarily any barrier to treatment.
I understand his frustration but no-one at all can give him guarantees of success and I hope he soon finds someone that he feels can help him.
