Wanting to do a candida and yeast cleanse and found this product. Is there anything in this remedy that would cause a problem/side effect - customer reviews are good but would like a homeopaths view

Candida albicans-20 30c, Geotrichum candidum-20 30c, Carbo veg 12c, Skatolum 12x, Indolum 12x, Echinacea 12x

Hi Janet - you have been having problems with your gut for ages (just looked at some of your posts) - are you on any of the 'azole' medications (the med has a name that ends with 'ole' or 'azole')? Rather than looking at an OTC homeopathic remedy (which may have no affect if other meds are involved) it may be worth having an actual consultation with a qualified homeopath - sometimes there is far more involved with the 'problem' than just trying to stop the symptoms.

Not all ole and azole drugs are to do with the stomach eg Ketocanazole is an anti fungal drug as is Clotrimazole.. However Omeprazole, Lansoprazole, Rapebrazole, Esomeprazole are the common stomach drugs.

Sorry - thats what comes of having a pharmacist on the forum.....

I knew you would be around O Wise One!

One of my friends was plagued with candida for many many years, and even though she was doing all she could to eradicate it, it was a consult with a homeopath that resulted in her finding out why she couldn't shift it - years of prescription omeprazole which she was still taking at the time of the consult.

You flatter me lol!!!

I am reading a book called 'tuning the Diamonds' which has some interesting ideas. It is very science based - but one of the things mentioned got me thinking that it could explain how and why homeopathy works.....

Unikey make the product - I have had stomach bloating for ever and ever - and I did do the candida diet but perhaps I've slipped a bit - I take probiotics but although they help to an extent it doesn't clear the bloating. Digestive enzymes don't help much and I have watch papain, bromelain, fennel as I have reactions to them.

I do wonder if it is food sensitivities because certain foods make my face puff and bloat - oats, nuts, seeds, yoghurt, bread - but there isn't a common denominator in any of these foods. I was wondering could it be lectin or leptin ( I get the two mixed up).

I have had serious stress for the last year and I mean serious stress issues and at the end of October I lost my mum which has been life changing and devastating for me.

If I take the eye off the ball with regards to my diet - it's a nightmare - I seem if I don't stick to a strict diet and watch what I eat, I bloat, gain weight quite rapidly so I have to watch all the time what I eat. I have noticed though that sugar does seem to be a problem and kiniesology by two different women who knew nothing of one another both said sugar - cane and beet was a problem!

I wouldn't take any of the drugs suggested because what I put into my body is important to me - and alopathic against homeopathic - homeopathy would win every time!

I would take a large bet this is a factor in your problems if not the biggest factor.

I have wondered about cortisol levels and belly fat and bloat to be honest - not only my mum dying has been stressful but my cousin who my mum loved has had serious health issues also so had all of that to worry about e.g. two mini strokes, cancer scare, thrombosis on her lung, car crash, stress and depression where she has threatened suicide and self harm, ulcers and adhesions on her stomach, and the return of her OCD. On top of a partner who retired because of stress and depression so his health isn't brilliant, trying to keep my job going which keeps me sane and which I love. But I'm not glad to see the back of 2013. Some days I honestly don't know how I coped with it all and visit mum three times a day in a Care Home.

Hi Janet,
I've not heard of this company- or some of the remedies you list. Some companies do like to manufacture combination remedies, working on the basis that one of them might 'hit the spot'. It's open to debate whether this is effective but it's not a method that I would use personally, not would I purchase products like this online. Of course, you'll make your own decisions and I wish you well.
I was sorry to read about your Mum and I know that you have a history of digestive problems but your past/current stress and grief must surely aggravate things at the very least. Be kind to yourself. HTH Hom.

Yes I searched and couldn't find some of the remedies mentioned hence why I asked.

A difficult year so probably has made my problems worse - seem to have outbreaks now of stomach cramps which I think is IBS and stress related - probiotics don't seem to help - unless I am taking the wrong strain but then it's a minefield finding the correct one. One I did find worked they have stopped making it!

Hi Janet, I know you do go to a homeopath sometimes and have some homeopathic knowledge and I should say to you, that a professional consultation is the ideal way to go but if you're not doing that and going to self prescribe, you need to not forget the holistic basis of homeopathy- even if all you want is for some physical symptoms to improve and aren't worried about any emotional support.
If the paramount 'happening' in your life is of an emotional nature (and in your case, it surely must be at the moment), the remedy you choose must absolutely take that into account, So, the remedy you take will have in its 'picture' your emotional state- and ideally also your physical state (but not necessarily so, if emotional 'stuff' dominates the case).Your physical symptoms will only then start to improve.
If it's only physical health problems that are occurring and everything else in your life is basically ok., then the remedy would be based just on the physical stuff.
There is no other way to choose remedies- because basically that's how homeopathy works!
The alternative would be to take supplements of some sort (which homeopathy isn't)....
Apologies if I'm reminding you of what you already know- but I'm sure there are plenty of other readers here who don't understand what homeopathy is.
Best wishes.Hom

I have thought about going to a homeopath again - at one point last year I thought that was the way to go with everything going on and having to cope with mum dying but I've done OK in a way - still tears every day but then with my cousin on top of everything else and missing mum I have had some down days but my job really keeps me going - I love my job. I think if I am honest I still cannot believe mum has gone but she was 93 so maybe I have been realistic about it - I knew I didn't have long with her.

Whilst I was running around after mum my tum didn't seem to bloat it seems like only now when all the stress of my life has come to a halt (well now that I'm not doing 7,30 visit to the home for an hour, then work, then 2pm another visit for an hour or so, home, exercise, dinner and 7 pm back tothe home again) that my stomach seems to bloat more than ever.

Could you recommend a good probiotic that perhaps I could try - some I know work better than others but at the moment my tummy feels spongy and looks like I've swalloed a ball.

Hi again Janet,
You're not going to like this but I'm not a fan of probiotics. They may not do any harm but I'm yet to be convinced they do any good either. My best advice would be to review your food at the moment-keep it simple and wholesome and easily digestible. As important, make time for yourself so that you can begin to come to terms with recent events. It does sound as if you're rushing around for other people a lot and that's fine but it doesn't allow for the space that we need emotionally (been there and done it myself and learnt from bitter experience).

Yes been running around for everyone the last 12 months - and still not ended - and I have a full on job but I love it but need to keep focused on that.

Today is a down day not sure why but maybe January blues - maybe back to work after a long holiday. Also sometimes I feel that people forget that I am human not superwoman and need time and space on my own to come round after a day at work and plus I am still grieving mum - I feel everyone wants a bit of me but not enough to go around.

I do know what you mean though.

So interested to know why you don't like probiotics. Would artichoke supplements help the bloat?

Think we are out of the realms of homeopathy here-you might be better to post that question in the naturopathy section. Re the probiotics-Ii:m not sure there's any hard evidence to support them-but I:m sure someone on here will contradict that! Hom
