This is a question I've asked myself recently, as I'm sure many other therapists have especially when looking to do further training. Being a therapist can sometimes be a solitary vocation so seeing the views and opinions of others in the same line is valuable.
So I ask, what do you think is the most popular complementary therapy treatment? ?
🙂
That is a hard question to answer.
I would take a guess at something like Reiki.
I just did a search using the Free Google keyword tool, it came back with the following figures for searches in the last month in the UK.
Reiki 90,500
Indian Head Massage 18,100
Reflexology 90,500
You would need to put in the other therapies to come up with the top one.
If you are looking for the most popular so that you can learn that to share with others, you will obviously need to feel aligned with it, to get the most benefit.
Kind regards
Peter
I think its massage. Everyone has heard about it and has some understanding what it involves, even if they do not know in-depth.
For me my most popular therapy is massage too, I do pregnancy, aromatherapy, deep tissue and swedish and that is the bulk of my work compared to Reflexology or Indian head massage.
Hopefully will add hot stones next year 🙂
I do reiki and hypnotherapy and of the two reiki is the most popular. I would guess that massage is probably the most popular therapy generally followed by aromatherapy
I would say it is massage as a whole, though that may change if you were to split massage into its variations.
If you are asking in terms of considering what additional therapy to train in to be able to get more work, then massage will always be a great 'add on'. I know several people who combine for example acupuncture and massage, or are osteopaths but can also do just a massage. They can have their existing clients return for a massage, as well as cater to new massage requests that come in.
Though if you are thinking of training in a new therapy, apart from choosing something you are interested in, maybe a useful question would be what is growing in popularity, rather than what is most popular now. From a business perspective, something that is growing in popularity provides a naturally growing customer base.
I agree with UrbanHippy, i would think Massage.
It is certainly my favourite as at the end of a long week there is nothing better than a deep tissue back massage to sooth the tension away!
Probably massage, but others that are catching up are acupuncture and aromatherapy.
