[sm=idea.gif] Hello Everybody,
I'm new to HP, I was wandering if anyone has studied noesitherapy. It sounds as if it might complement holistic therapies in alleviating pain.
Many Thanks

This is a new one on me. How do you use your mind to affect change on the physical level? What specific techniques are used? (I'm accustomed to EFT and TAT).

It means 'treatment through thought' and that is essentially what hypnotherapy is. I know hypnotherapy can be used for pain control so I am guessing this could be effective. What I am curious about is how is differs from hypnotherapy

I picked up the part about healing through thought but can't find anything more than this. With EFT and TAT there are specific procedures for applying the healing but there must be some procedure to noesitherapy. Also is this something you can do for yourself, or do you have to see a practitioner?

Some may feel it is connected to Hypnotherapy in some way this could not be further from the truth, the former uses the subconscious mind to alter change and does not stop pain although a subject may feel Hypnotherapy can ease pain, Noesitherapy can stop pain in its tracks pain travels at 120 metres per second Noesitherapy travels at 300 there by stopping the pain, we must remember to seek help from a medical professional to assess the reason for the pain

Some hypnotherapy utilises the subconscious. But pain reduction techniques utilise a number of different techniques which the patient consciously uses when they have pain. They are just better absorbed when and learned in a hypnotic trance.

When you say the therapy travels at 300 meters per second.......exactly what do you mean? WHAT is travelling? The Thought? Because I am not aware of any evidence of thoughts travelling at different speeds.

Yes but How? If it was a matter of simply thinking yourself pain free, or whatever your issue is, we'd all be walking around in perfect health. What is the procedure or technique??

If only it were so simple.
I've just read the book "It's all in your mind" by consultant neurologist Dr Suzanne O'Sullivan. She essentially discusses the reality of physical symptoms people experience that have no biological/physical cause, including non-epileptic seizures, dissociative disorders, conversion disorders, functional neurological symptom disorders etc. So, essentially we are able to create very real physical effects in our body simply through the way we think, though often coming about due to some trigger based on some past 'trauma' (small or large - could just be a simple change of circumstance).

On that basis, we are perfectly able to think ourselves to be physically ill, so can just as easily think ourselves well.... but people don't.... and why that is can only be answered by that person. Partially, I think it's because people think all illness has to have a physical cause, so spend a lot of time trying to find (and get doctors and consultants to find) those physical causes, only to be disillusioned when they're told there is nothing physically wrong or that it's psychosomatic, and they don't realise that something can be done to help. Unfortunately, as Dr O'Sullivan discusses in her book, it also depends on whether the doctor or consultant is aware of such conditions and can actually think to diagnose them appropriately; many of whom seem to still be unaware or misguided about them.

Of course, if there is a physical cause, then that is treated differently, so it may not just be a case of "thinking ourselves better", but we could at least prevent side-effect symptoms that are the result of the way we think about the physical illness.

As Sally says, which figures are you referring to.
Ok, I don't have a problem with pain signals travelling at 120 m/s (approx 280 miles per hour) (they can be slower too, or in some cases a little faster), as that's the way the nerves in the body work with their signals, from a conventional biological point of view.
Where does 300 m/s come from? If, as Sally suggests, you're referring to thoughts, then as thoughts are considered to be generated within the brain, then they are within close proximity to the pain centres of the brain and therefore the effect of thinking would be tantamount to instantaneous (speed of light). As the speed of sound is around 340 m/s, the 300m/s you're quoting seems awfully slow (the speed of sound is considered relatively slow).

Difficult finding any informative text about noesitherapy on the web...

Everything is in ur mind that the whole problem, the idea is get it out or turn a negative into a positive, we are what we think in the main although genetics play a part

Well, not everything. A virus isn't in your mind... it's an external invader that gets inside and attacks.
There is a difference between physical/biological reasons for conditions and psychological reasons for conditions.

Or alternatively we could let go of our perceptions of positive and negative, right and wrong etc and just choose to be happy, yes our different aspects of consciousness function at different speeds, think of when you learnt to drive a car or play an instrument, we start by utilising our everyday thinking aspect of consciousness and it is hard work, then our memory aspect of consciousness starts to kick in and what takes us a while to think our way through with our every day aspect of consciousness suddenly starts to happen as an automatic process.

A lot of healers have received one or more attunements to healing modalities; what is often not understood is that everything we need to know to function with that modality is contained within the attunement, but how long it takes that information to filter through to our conscious perceptive awareness varies from instantaneous to weeks, months, years or with some it never seems to get through, yet we received vast amounts of information instantly.

Healing within and through consciousness is what I do when helping people to transform their underlying thought patterns and beliefs which is driving their disease into ease, the process that creates disease is exactly the same process that creates wholeness, both are creative, neither are right or wrong, it is simply a way of creating an experience, changing the thought patterns and beliefs simply changes the experience, when we remove the rituals and techniques from healing, then we are left with consciousness, consciousnesses does not require verbalisation or distractions to function, it simply requires acceptance and a willingness to change.

Many choose to specialize in one or more knowledge areas after earning a physiotherapy degree. Athletic therapists study sports medicine in college.
