I've heard many theories of how acne is caused from what you eat and drink, but at the same time I've heard many theories of how it isn't what you eat or drink? Does anyone have any ideas? I think it works both ways, since what's in your urine is what comes out of your pores when you sweat, and your urine can have more waste or it can be more clean depending on what you put into your body you'd think it would have an effect on your skin aswell, so you'd also need to keep the outside of your body clean at the same time, although I'm interested in what anyone else has to think 🙂

My youngest brother said taht what helped him the most was getting involved in exercising and he noticed a better improvement in his skin when he was training. He put it down to a high level of testosterone in his body!!! as he was a healthy eater and tried nearly every medication on the go to help clear his skin. My oldest brother but his down to heridatory!! its an interesting topis is acne as when you consider what scientists can do and still havnt come up with a goos sucussfull treatment for acne.

RE: Acne?

Acne is generally not caused by diet - however diet can be an influencing factor. Some more details are here:

As a teenager I had very severe Acne, never worried about it that much. Then one day decided to go to the doctors. There are several treatments that you can have for acne and generally you have to work up through them to get to the strongest. My GP gave me some pills which didn't have much effect, he referred me to a Dermatologist who give some different pills and cream - not much effect and then they prescribed a very strong Acne drug called Roaccuttane. This did wonders for my acne, but was a nightmare for my skin! It essentially dries your skin out, well it did for me. So for the time I was using I was using E45 moisturiser at least twice a day and E45 lip balm constantly! But it cleared up my Acne, and only now have the occasional spot.

RE: Acne?

I suffer from acne outbreaks around my jaw and neck line - at the minuate it s awful - I put it down to a slugish liver and i find that milk thistle helps. I do notice that when i eat chocolate, crisps, and nice foods like that LOL that i my skin around this area goes haywire.

Fozzyo did you experience any side effects on the acne treatment?

RE: Acne?

The only side-effect was the exceptionally dry skin, but lots of E45 helped with that. The worst side effect was constant chapped lips. But as soon as the treatment finished this went away.

RE: Acne?

When i had acne i was on accutane that i usually ordered from [link= http://www.bbonlinepharmacy.com/product/175/accutane-isotretionin-roaccutane/ ]http://www.bbonlinepharmacy.com/product/175/accutane-isotretionin-roaccutane/[/link] an it worked really effectively for me and my younger sister. However i was less tolerant to the siede effects and stared to used some gel like differin and started to drink a lot of water for all day (about 4 litres) then i would either run or do some exercise in the morning and go to swim to the beach in the morning or take a hot bath.

RE: Acne?

There is no conclusive evidence that Acne is caused by poor nutrition, but poor nutrition could make the symptoms worst. A diet high in fried food and saturated fats can make it easier for pores to be blocked. It would be wise to keep to a whole food diet with plenty of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of mineral water, at least a litre a day.

Eggs, onions and garlic can be beneficial due to the high content of sulphur. It is best to avoid stimulants such as sugar and cigarettes. Foods high in Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) such as:

  • Oily Fish[*]Seeds[*]Nuts[*]Whole-grain cereals

are good as they have anti-inflammatory properties.

All the best
