Hello there.
I am the proud owner of one beautiful pony mare. She is sensitive, willing and forgiving, well trained and rides beautifully. However, she is also anxious, nervous and introverted. Her life seems to consist of peering around corners and snorting at bushes. She rarely spooks or shies, but she is constantly on edge, waiting for something bad to occur.
This isn't to say she is naughty, or difficult to manage. On the contrary, she is an angel to ride and handle. A tense, stressed angel.
I would love it if she could wind down and relax. I think if she did, it would probably help her keep on weight and stay healthy. But up until now I didn't have a clue what to do about it. I found keeping a thick blanket on her appeared to calm her down, but in the heat of summer that really isn't practical or safe. Changing her feed, exercising her more, nothing else had much effect.
Recently, I watched a vet bring by mothers poodle out of severe shock after he had been mauled by a neighbors wandering dog. All the vet did was spray him with something called a Bach Flower Remedy and the results were immediate. This made me think-would it work on my horse? Calm her down?
So people of the flower essences forum, do you think a back flower remedy would be able to help my horse?

I see you didn't get a reply...
We were given an ex race thorough bred. She was over raced. Her energy depleted, anxious, she was a riled old cow because she felt used and abused. Rightly so.
Your description reminds me of our mare when she arrived. Lovely natured but not enough nurturing from people handling her. It is all about money in racing as you know.
We didn't give her any med for calming her. We just loved her, which is what you do too. Do spend some time with her just being with her....just in her presence. Let her fill herself up with the love in your heart. She would soon replenish her emotional strength, but you also must trust her own ability to reach her whole ness.
Wifey, our dear girl, lets me hug her when she needs one. Other than that we both forget about hugs. She got so chilled within months of being with us that my children have been handling her for nearly 2 years now (they are only 10 and 11 now.)
Horses( well animals and children and all living beings pick up your energetic essence.) So do relax yourself first as well. The more relaxed and loving you get, your animals respond likewise.
Enjoy her. it is such an honour that majestic animals like them let us look after and handle them. If you insist on some med....try kali phos. 6x a twelve tissue salt, available in health food shop. 6 pills 4 times for a few weeks. You could have them too they are excellent for calming of mental state. They are totally without any side effects. Or you could just put your hands on her with love. She will respond beautifully.
Good luck
