Hi

I am interested in doing a flower remedy course - bach or australian. I am a qualified AOR reflexologist and am in the process going for my reiki 2. I wondered how much interest there is in flower remedies and how much interest/clients I would expect to get from it? I know this is a hard question to ask, but as a newly qualified reflexologist just starting out, I am a bit tight for money and would love to learn more therapies but really need to concentrate on one that would pay for itself.

Thanks in advance
Mummymaz

Hello Mummymaz,
I have been in and around holistic therapy/treatments for many years now and Bach flower remedies is something ive used every now again but not really felt the need to study. I think its all down to personal choice and if theres something within it that your drawn to then maybe you need to follow it through.

Hi,

Where & who were you thinking of doing the courses with?
You have to be a bit careful as some are better than others when it comes to merit so it can be easy to waste your money.
I've been looking into them but can't decide between Australian or Bach or Mixed at the moment so will be watching this post with interest!
From what I've read on other posts most therapists tend to do flower remedies alongside other therapies as often a client will benefit from a combination of treatments rather than just the one.

I find that it's useful to know about flower rems as an addition to another therapy but I find it's almost along the freebie type of route where you maybe mention to someone at the end of another treatment- oh you could try this, rather than someone coming to you specifically for a flower rem consultation.
Does that make sense??

Hi all

Thanks for the replies to my post. I see what you mean flowingflower about having it as an added bonus to the treatment rather than a treatment/service by itself - that makes sense. I suppose if I did a level one bach course it would give me the knowledge and understanding enough to be able to point clients in the right direction without actually claiming practitioner status. Am I right in thinking that I could advise but not prescribe or mix any remedies?

Thanks all

I was thinking of doing a bach course as a level one correspondence course with the bach centre and there is an australian remedy course with healthlines which is also correspondence.

Let me know what you are looking into, I will also be interested to see what other members think

Snap! I'd been looking into these too! 🙂
Also the courses on this site:

& in particular the course offered here which is 80% corrrespondance:

It's all a bit of a minefield isn't it! From what I've been told regarding Bach, you can only suggest remedies with a level 1 but emphasise that you are not a Practitioner so the final decision is with the client. With level 2 you can mix and prescribe remedies but again not as an actual practitioner.

Hi Sonnet

Thanks for the links, I have had a good look through them they look great. I have found this [DLMURL] http://www.tessajordan.co.uk/index.html [/DLMURL] . Tessa sent me a wonderful reply to an email I sent. She is Bach Centre accredited and does courses for level 2 in either ipswich or Bournemouth( where my in-laws live, I'm in Nottingham) She very kindly mentioned that she would act as my mentor for the level one correspondence course if I let the bach centre know, which I thought was lovely.

Thanks also for the tip about advice to my reflexology clients, it is always nice to get a back up to any ideas you have.

Mummymaz

Ps - I looked at your website from the link on your post, I suffer from fibromyalgia and have just done reiki one, I must admit I dont do reiki on myself as often as I should, how long do you spend each day on self treatments?

That's great - so do you think you'll opt for the Bach courses now?
I've still not decided which way to jump! I just want to get value for money!

That's interesting that you suffer from fibromyalgia - what a pair we are!
How do you find coping with it when dealing with treatments?

Re: Self healing, at first I tended to do it daily but after a while (& having progressed up to Reiki Master level) I now do it 2-3 times a wk. If I get struck down with a bug/virus I go back to daily until it goes. I've also learnt the hard way that even though I've been attuned to Reiki I still need 'top ups' myself from other Reiki Practitioners - when you are treating others & have a condition yourself that needs to be taken care of I'd fully advise getting a 'top up' from someone else monthly.

Keep in touch (feel free to PM me) as it's always nice to talk to someone who's in a similar position as a therapist to myself

Think I may have spoken to some of you individually via pm's but just wanted to say I did the the Australian Bush Flower Essence Correspondence course about two years ago now and it was excellent. You end up with an Advanced Practitioner's Cert so can practice if your insurance company will accept distant learning. Once you have insurance you can prescribe and make up esssences. You learn experientially as well as from books and case studies and you get to make up and work with your own essence (from flowers in your garden/area).

Hope this helps.

I recently did level1 corespondance course with the Bach Foundation, I really enjoyed it I, I now have a good understandingof what each remedy is for., the only thing I found was waiting for each lesson to come to me
was hard (im an impatients type you see!) this course was more expensive than doing the course with a local Bach teacher ( the only reason i did the corespondance course was the teacher had no level 1 courses starting for several monthe and I didnt want to wait!!) I will be diong level2 with her soon.
The good thing about a corespondance course is you can do it in your own time (which for me, who hate to wait for ANYTHING was frustating) that will siut some people.

So do you think you'll go on to do the level 3 Bach Practitioner course or stick at level 2?

Hi sonnet
I would love to do the practicioners level as well as there is so much to be learned by these wonderful remedies, but as the practicioners leve cost quite a bit more I am going to have save up a while , but when funds allow I will look forward to it:)
my only reservation is a financial one, with the cost of the 3 courses plus the cost of buying the remdies ( i have been buying a couple of 10ml bottles each week till I had the full set) I just cant imagine I could ever recoup the full costs !!!!

Yes, that's sadly realistically true - it's such a shame when so many people want to learn about flower remedies but are constricted by finances (me being one of them!) & feel that they wouldn't be able to recoup the money spent in the longterm too.

The Bach essences aren't that expensive, you can buy all 38 for around £130 and probably for less if you shop around.

That will give you years of use if you make up dosage bottles.

I brought my Alaskan essences in 2002 and I've only had to replace 5 or 6 so they really do last a very long time if you keep them in a cool, dark place.

You can then buy individual ones as and when you are led to, so for an initial cost of £130 that really isn't bad.

The Bush Essences are more expenisive to set up but there are more of them than Bach - 72 plus combination ones, white light ones etc. I actually brought them all when I was training but really don't use more than about half on a regular basis. The problem is if you don't have the essence someone needs when you are practicing you have a problem - they are not interchangable.

Probably the answer is tho buy the ones taht you think you will need whichever essences they are and then add to them as you go.

In terms of recouping the cost of training and all the essences - it takes years but think of it as part of your own development and learning and the amazing resource that you have at hand for your own healing the cost then doens't really come into it.

That make perfect sense but if you think something like this it is only because you do not know yet well enough the trully power of the Bach remedies.

I was using aromatherapie and homeopathie and start the Bach remedies as something to complement as you refer to.
Now I do not use anything else than the remedies...
Sometimes? some crystals but just because I find them trully lovelly (I enjoy my crystals...just for a change..for little things...but in case of emergencies or anything of importance I alway rely on the flowers).
Th flower have allow me to reach results nothing else could have make possible.

You can use the Bach flower and learn the basic in one hour I would say...but if you practice it's not something basic you are about to meet. It's above any words.
