Dear All,
Is it bad feng shui to hang a large mirror on the wall above your head on your bed? I have heard that beams above your bed are bad for relationships but is that the same with a wall mirror? And how about a wall mirror over the fireplace - its very traditional.
Lots of love,
Tandi.
Hi tandawee I'm not quite up on FS and sure there are more qualified than me on this subject but my understanding is that it was not good to have something directly reflect your bed. But I am not sure if that was only in front of you and not behind you. Cant help with the mantlepiece.
Linda
Hey Linda,
Thanks for taking the time to reply! The mirror wouldn't be reflecting my bed, it would be above the headboard, so reflecting the wardrobe! I just thought of putting it there, to reflect the light coming from the window into a draker part of the room. But I thought there was something about having objects above your head when you are sleeping, maybe the risk that they will fall on you!

I think there is a subconcious link with the "worry" of things falling on you, and its a "water" element, not always good in the bedroom. 🙂
Hi Tandi,
Mirrors are not recommended for bed rooms because it is believed that when you sleep your body recharges with fresh chi and used leaves the body. A mirror would reflect this, that is amplify it, which you don't want.
If you can't see yourself as you sleep, then in feng shui mirrors are ok. You can also cover the mirror with something too whilke you sleep.
Hi Tandi, I've always beleived that if you have a mirror reflecting you as you sleep it asorbs your energy..ie when you wake up you feel tired all day as if you've hardly slept...this has always seemed to be true with me too

I mirror what Amelia Jane says!!!
Mirrors in a bedroom can be a Feng Shui nightmare. They should be avoided if they can reflect your image while you are asleep as this effect can also drain you. Round and oval shaped mirrors in bedrooms are ideal, full length dressing mirrors can be cleverly concealed inside a wardrobe.
I've also heard that you shouldn't hang pictures etc above the bed because un subsonsiously you could worry that they might fall on you whilst you are asleep - don;'t think i fancy a mirror falling on me ouch!
