Having battled with sleep problems over the last few weeks (which is having a knock-on effect on other areas of my life), I have decided to try some new options 🙂 Have booked acupuncture for tomorrow, and also decided to redecorate my bedroom into a haven in which I cannot resist relaxation.
I feel that for some reason when we were decorating our new home on a limited budget, myself and my boyfriend neglected the bedroom and it just doesn't feel like a sacred relationship space to me, which is now being reflected in our relationship.
Anyone got some feng shui or colour therapy or other suggestions for me to use when re-creating this space? it would be greatly appreciated!
Hi Star Dust,
I am an accredited feng shui consultant so hopefully can help you a bit. If you PM me your's and your partners date of births I will be able to work out your good directions.
The main points for feng shui in the bedroom are:
You should be able to see the door easily from your bed. The bed should be against a solid wall and not under a window. Of course there are other factors to consider like do you have geopathic stress or microwaves in your bedroom. Microwaves can come from clock radios, bedside lights as well as mobile phones which is why you shouldn't have mobiles in the bedroom. Do not have TVs or mirrors facing the bed and the bed should not be facing the door. Obviously there are a lot of other factors which can only be dealt with physically at the property.
With regards to colour, it all depends what area of your house, your bedroom is situated in - North, South etc. as this will determine the element your bedroom is in. You can then use a colour which will strengthen this element.

Sorry to butt in on this.......if it is an attic bedroom (that is pretty much the full floor plan in the house) that is the main bedroom then does that make a huge difference please? Had never thought about before I read your post Open Waves.
Apologies, Kate x
No need to apologise Kate, you're welcome to join in the thread!!! 🙂
Hi Kate,
Of course you are not butting in, the more the merrier 🙂
As you say, if this is an attic room then it would be probably would be the full floor plan of the house unless the ground floor had been extended, in which case, I would work out how much has been extended as to whether I include it or not in the floor plan.
If we said that an attic room was the whole floor plan of the house then I would probably expect that there are going to be sloping/low ceilings so I would be looking at what life areas they are in.
Hope it makes sense, tried to simply it as much as I can as Feng Shui is very complicated and in-depth. This scenario is very basic.
Oooh now that has make me think......Didn't even cross my mind that sloping ceilings would make a difference. Haha you can tell I am new to this.
I do have a many sided clear crystal hanging from the rafter that runs through the middle of our room (and bed - between myself and my partner).
Thanks for that - given me lots to think about

Hi Maeshadow,
Ideallly, I would recommend having large upright plants or uplighters under slopping ceilings as this will help raise the energy. I would remove your crystals from the rafters as crystals reflects so this could be worsening the effect of the rafters rather than improving it.
Oh no and I thought that was to counteract the bed being sliced in half between us. Whoops :p Thank you x
Morning Maeshadow,
If you remove the crystals and add some large upright rights and uplighters under the slopping ceilings, let me know if you notice any changes or need any further FS advice.

Thanks for that great advice. 🙂
May be a while before I can do anything beneficial to the bedroom as we are pretty broke at the moment. Partner has own business and work is way too quiet for comfort lol. Will let you know though x
Ps Star_dust what colour is your bedroom (being nosey).
Thanks for that great advice. 🙂

Maeshadow, its magnolia - how boring is that? The whole darn place is magnolia. Was going to paint the room to help our relationship, but turns out there is no relationship any more!!!!!
Star Dust?? Oh no!! What's going on?? Are you ok? xxxx
I'm grand to be honest. Here's the thing, I was a mess last week and went for acupuncture and she gave me some chinese pills to take for the week and they've made me super calm about the whole thing. Am going for another session on weds, looking forward to that. I released some grief last week, hoping to release some anger this week!

Oh lovely..... thinking of you and hope that all the releasing doesn't wear you out!! Release in tiny bits, like a pressure cooker nozzle being gently twisted!! Don't take the nozzle off completely will you?!!
Hugs xx
No way I couldnt handle that. I am doing one treatment a week. And I am lucky to have a few amazing friends to stand by me also 🙂
Just to go back to the feng shui - my husband was saying the other day that he seems to think our bedroom may be the cause of his intermittant nightmares....
About once a week he will waken in the night and be really convinced of ceilings falling in, or bugs on the bed, or kids jumping out of windows etc. etc. He doesn't think it happens when he sleeps in other places.
We have an attic bedroom with sloping ceilings and a large spine beam (on my side). The door is opposite the bed, but doesn't face the bed. The windows are on my side, and the only microwaves are two lamps and a clock radio. The room is large and airy and it is predominantly cream with a feature wall in teal. If you are looking out of the windows, you will be looking north, and the bed goes from West (headboard) to East.
Open waves I would appreciate your input, in return I can do you a reading???!!
Thank you so much!!

I can't help with the feng shui side of things, but just wanted to say that this happens to me too. I wake up with a fright thinking there is a spider on my bed or someone in the room. Hate it but usually go straight back to sleep.
Good Morning Dip,
That would be lovely if you would do me a reading in return, thank you.
Please would you email me your's and your partner's dates of births so I can also look at your personal directions.
I feel that you may have some geopathic stress in your bedroom/house. Also you have slopping ceilings which is not ideal but you can help these by placing uplighters and tall upright plants underneath to raise the chi.
Feng Shui is very complicated and indepth and there is only so much advice I can give you without being present. Would you be interested in a FS consultation (I could give you a reduced rate)?
The other issue to think about is your husband's health/wellbeing. Is he undergoing any health issues or is he currently on medication? I would also want to check the "Health" area of your home which is the centre point (on all floors). What is in this area, what colours are the walls, are there any artwork here?
There are some crystals that maybe able to help him but this is not my area but sure there are some crystal forums on HP and there will be plenty of information on the internet.

Oh no hope you are keeping well!! Would love to send you some Reiki in the form of a big hug if that is ok. :043:
Thank you Maeshadow - that is much appreciated!
Hi, I hope I can still offer something to this post.
Classical Feng Shui has never used hanging crystals as a cure for beams, it is a modern invention and its validity is very questionable.
Colour can have an effect, however, in many cases it is over-ridden by the 'energies' that reside in that location.
If you sleep in a good direction or location when will it be good for you? What if it is in a room where the energy of the entire location suggests sickness, separation, legal problems, expenses or accidents for the next 2 years?
Would you really want to raise the energy of a room if the room location itself holds say, sickness energy for this year? Try to find this out first before doing room alterations or you could end up amplifying the negative.
As Marina suggested, Feng Shui is very complex and unfortunately, it is difficult to conduct an assessment without being on site or at least seeing a floor plan.
A Feng Shui consultant usually strives to identify what challenges you have faced in your life/home, are facing now and will face if you continue on the same path. Many are able to 'read' a house in such a way. Kind of like astrology for the home 🙂
If they know what 'influences' are affecting your home and when, they are in a position to empower you with a strategy for the year ahead.
Warmest Regards,
Thank you for that informative post PBR. There is a lot more to Feng Shui than I had imagined.
Colours, directions and solution for the bedroom
Old topic but I guess better late than never 🙂
I take the liberty to add my opinion as an expert in classical Feng Shui.
I agree with PBR on crystals, windchimes and flutes not being part of traditional Feng Shui. As for the timing of a specific space, some schools like the flying stars based a lot of things on the timing influence, considering the space cannot be used if under certain configuration. Other traditional and older schools correct the space to make it usable and take into account the yearly influences that might affect the place on a temporary basis.
Colours have a MAJOR impact in Feng Shui. This is not a modern-day invention, as it is used by all traditional lineages. Colours are use primarly to convert the energy of a room when inauspicious to the occupant into a more compatible element based on its chart (BaZi). For example a one step conversion from direction to colour is earth to metal, a 2 steps conversion fire to earth to metal.
The bed position account for 65% of a Feng Shui audit, and its influence on people life cannot be disregarded. It has to be precisely determined based on the chart of each people using the room. Going by sectors, like N, NW, is not precise enough. The accuracy is through the use of the 24 mountains, or subsectors: N1. N2, N3 etc.
By sleeping under an element that attack your self element you constantly weaken your energy and attracts problem affecting your whole life. Hence what you have been experiencing.
Hope that helps.
