I'm all new to this ear candling and am a bit unsure as to which brand to buy. Does it really matter or are there better ones than others. Thanks in advance. 😉
RE: Which ones to buy
Hi Claris
I have recently qualified in Thermal Auricular Therapy (hopi ear candling) and was told by our tutor to always use the Biosun candles. I have never used any others!

RE: Which ones to buy
You need to check with your insurers. I am only insured to use Biosun as to my knowledge they are the only ones with an EU Standard for medical products.

Thats great guys. Thanks very much.
RE: Which ones to buy
Just out of interest, how much does everyone pay for their candles?
I know you can buy in bulk but I would be interested to know just how big a difference there is between shops.
RE: Which ones to buy

RE: Which ones to buy
hi claris, about your original question of which candles are the best, i would definately recommend biosun,:D as was already mentioned they are the only ones that meet the eu standard. But also, last year sometime i bought a suppliers own brand of candles (to try to reduce outlay costs) and instantly regreted it.[sm=mecry.gif]because firstlythey had no filter inside (unlike biosun) and secondly they were very waxy, so when burnt the wax dribbled down the candle, very dangerous[sm=nono.gif]. So of course i have not even considered using the candles on clients or anyone come to that, so in effect was actually out of pocket. [sm=fit.gif]To sum up, stick with biosun, because although they cost a little more, they are by far superior.;)

Thanks very much Staranise.;)
RE: Which ones to buy
I bought mine from [link= http://www.globalherbalsupplies.com/earcandles/ ] http://www.globalherbalsupplies.com/earcandles/ [/link]as I was told they work out cheaper. A few of us clubbed together and bought in bulk though you pay per candle rather than pair. I don't know if they do work out cheaper in the end (not very good at maths) That site looks interesting Busy Bee. Have bookmarked that and may use them in future. Out of interest did anybody receive a letter some months back saying you could only use candles bought in this country due to some law or other.... it came from a British company... funny that innit!!!
RE: Which ones to buy
I have been using the Otosan Ear Candles. They have the CE certification and come with a protection disc a proper filter inside and feel a bit better made. I have found them to be very effective and were better value than the Biosun. I did a course at Willow Lodge with these candles for accreditiation and got them online at [link= http://www.somethingforthewickend.com ]www.somethingforthewickend.com[/link]
Has anyone else tried them?
RE: Which ones to buy
I would only use Biosun ear candles and i can get them from £4.30 each so they are terrific value anyway. I never have any problems with falling ash. The ones that tend to fall ash are the cone shaped ones as the seam goes around the candles rather than straight up.
I've also heard of people buying the biosun from Oz and then getting demands from inland revenue/HMGS for import duty - which brings the price to the same if not more than the Uk prices anyway and remember the prices quoted in oz are each not per pair!
RE: Which ones to buy
The Otosan cones dont seem to have an ash. I can get them for £4.16 a pair from Wickend which seems a good price too.
I tried to buy the Biosun from Oz and withpostage and everything they were 30p more per cone! Best to buy in the UK methinks!
RE: Which ones to buy
Hi Bob
I guess we all find a product we are comfortable with. Just becareful that your insurance covers you for otosan though as i know some insurance companies will only insure the use of Biosun candles.
RE: Which ones to buy
Hi Emma,
Had no problem with the insurance, as the Otosan cones on paper, are safer for the client.
Will still use the Biosun as well when a scented candle is required.
