Hi,

I qualified as a Thermo Auricular therapist a couple of years ago and have candled friends and family very sucessfully. Have recently set up as a mobile therapist and did my first paying client last week who suffers with sinus problems.

The initial affects were very good. The pain in her face subsided and she said she could breath freely through her left nostril which had been blocked before. These lovely feelings lasted a few days but when I went back to do her 2nd treatment yesterday she was very poorly.

She complained of flu like symptoms and said that it felt like her head was in a vice and that she couldnt sleep with the pain. Obviously she didnt want her 2nd treatment and wouldnt want another one until she felt much better if at all.

I feel really bad. This lady runs the local gym where I am trying to get myself known and now feel this will go against me. Was it something I did that could have been prevented? Was she going to geta virus anyway? Did the ear candling loosen too much and it is all trying to clear so to speak?

Any suggestions would be greatfully received because this has made me think twice about doing the treatment again.:(

RE: sinus pain

Hi Phoenix i did a really long post for you yesterday but then got distracted with burning dinner! LOL

Anyway I would say that her pain etc is due to the effects of the candling wearing off... When people have problems such as sinusitis it can take quite a few sessions to sort out but with each session the lovely effects last longer and longer.

I hope you can get her to have another treatment as she will then start seeing the benefits again and keep coming until she needs the treatment less and less.

I know this from personal experience as i have bad sinus problems, the week after treatment is fabulous and i can smell again and breathe through my nostrils - which i havent been able to do since i was 8!!! But if i go 3 weeks without treatment my nose gets stuffy, the ringing in my ears returns and i cant smell.

I am a gualified hopi therapist too so can speak from both sides!

Have you thought about offering her a discount for a block booking of sessions? I always advise my clients of the minimum amount of sessions likely required and offer a discount to reflect the amount of money they will need to spend.

Hope that helps.

RE: sinus pain

I think that she may have had a healing crisis and that is perfectly normal dont feel too worried about it as this is part of the healing process try to reassure her that this is normal and g that by having regular treatments that she will start to feel better, also dont stop her going to see her doctor as this might make her a bit nevous.

RE: sinus pain

Thank you for your replies.

The pain this lady experienced was so bad that i dont think she is brave enough to try it again, although i do agree that if she did the symptoms would subside.

She did go to the doctor who has put her on more antibiotics and said that if it doesnt clear up this time she will have to have an operation on her sinuses.

As she has had this problem for a long time I think that the shere volume of blocked waste that is trying to move is overwhelming. I spoke to her yesterday and she is ok and doesnt blame me but I dont think she will be having another treatment.

I just wish there was more that I could do beacause I feel a bit useless. [&o]

I'll dig out an article for you from a journalist, you could print it off to give it to her.

Hi,

Do a google search for Serrapeptase - there is some research to indicate that this extract can help with inflammations such as sinuses, then once the inflammation has subsided retry the ear candling

Thank you for your suggestion. Do you know if she would be able to use this alongside the anti biotics?

RE: sinus pain

another thought what about offering a sinus massage in between hopi treatments, taht would help with the intermittant blockages and most likely prevent the sinus pressure building up.
