perforated eardrum

I have a customer who has asked me to provide an ear candling treatment, however as a child he had grommets and had a perforated ear but no problems for the last 8 years. I explained that due to a perforated ear I am unable to provide a treatment but because it was longer than 8 years ago I am wondering whether it would be ok. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated.
