I have just recieved this email from Boisun, which I thought everyone might find interesting.

Thank you for sending the links concerning earcandles. We are aware of their
existence. Please note our comments as follows:

May we offer you some information on the subject of "Removal of Earwax"
It frequently happens that users confuse the condensate at the bottom end of
a burnt out ear candle with earwax. It is then often said "the earcandle
does not seem to work very well! My last earcandle had much more earwax!" It
is not earwax but condensate. Earwax can merely soften with earcandle
application, so that it is easier to remove and is further removed in
natural processes. We do not know of a case in which an earcandle could
develop such suction so that wax built up could be normally extracted.

"Removal of earwax" is a claim which we cannot legally prove and therefore
do not make it, however, some of our competitors do so and therefore this
question is frequently asked.

So you will see the residues also when the candle has burnt on its own.

Concerning the danger of running wax please be informed that Original BIOSUN
Hopi Earcandles have a safety filter that protects the ear from running wax.

We hope that your questions have been answered sufficiently. If not, please
do not hesitate to contact us at any time.
Best regards,

So basically, what Biosun is saying, is that the residue in candles is NOT ear wax but condensate, and that because of the filter, melted candle wax cannot fall into the ear- which is what concerned me mainly.

RE: Hopis revisited

Good question - I allways thought it was earwax in the filter bit

RE: Hopis revisited

Condensate is the powder that is the burnt remains of the herbs inside the candle.
