I will be doing a course in hopi ear candling at the end of January and naturally have been looking into candle suppliers.

I'd be grateful for other therapists opinions on whether Biosun are superior or if others are just as good. Also, I know it's cheeky but would any of you mind telling me what you charge for this therapy.

Thanks

Tam:)

I have never used anything other than Biosun, so cant really comment on other brands, but I have a feeling that the insurance companies will only insure you if you use Biosun ones. I get mine from Ellison's beauty cash and carry, as it is near to me and I can just pop in. By the way, biosun now have a range of Aromatherapy scented candles, which are lovely. I charge £15.00, which is the going rate in my area.

RE: hopi ear candles

I am doing the Thermo Auricular Therapy course in March and attended a workshop at the Therapy Exhibition a few weeks ago.

We were told that the going rate for the therapy is around £25 (which includes a mini massage afterwards, making it a one hours treatment). However, a £20 charge would encourage more people to seek alternative ways of helping their ear and sinus problems, rather than the medical route which is free.

I know that I will have to charge more in the clinics where I work to cover my room rental and I know of one clinic in my area that charges £35 which I personally think is a bit steep.

I have also been told that it is recommended that three treatments are given over a four week period, so you would have to take into account the overall cost of the course.

As far as Biosun candles are concerned, these are the only ones recommended on the TATh course. Is is not possible to purchase these directly from Revital who are the UK importers?

Hi Tam 1:)

In my area the going rate is £12.50 - £20.00. I get mine from Revital as they are the cheapest, but if I run out my local college sells them at a reduced rate
for those who did the course there.

Light and blessings

If you are doing a TATh course, you get a discount from Revital and the more you buy the cheaper they are. Not sure if you still get the discount with non TATh courses. Advice - dont buy more than you will use within three months as I think they go a bit 'stale' and dry up a little once they have been opened, whether you keep them in an air tight box or not.

But they only have the plain ones ( as far as I know) I personally prefer to pay a bit more and have the choice of all the range. The Frankinsence and Cedar ones and the orange and lemon ones are lovely.
