Infection????

are there any contraindication to having a hopi ear candel treatment?

Perforated eardrum, and I've been told by someone with whom I've discussed possibly having a treatment that this is VIP!

Eczema in the ears - and you'll be surprised how many people suffer with it!

Definitely perforated eardrum like Holistic mentioned, recent ear infection although infections of the middle ear are ok. Grommets. Also like any other therapy under the influence of drugs, fever, temperature etc.

Hi, I trained with the Oxford School of Reflexology, they do day courses. Another one is Gateway Workshops.

2 more very important contra-indications:
Epilepsy and pregancy, because the candles have sage in them which is a stimulant.

Sue Maunsell and Linda stokes teach that the only contraindications are oozing infections or perforated eardrums. We were taught that the amount of sage in the candles is so minimal (unlike concentrated essential oils). You wouldn't avoid eating sage if you were pregnant or had epilepsy.

As for eczema, I've often found that the ear candling is very soothing. It also helps to clear the ear canal of ear wax that gets mixed up with flakes of skin.

i agree re the pregnancy issue.....i actually thought some new info had emerged.......plus i am giving an ear treatment to a mom to be next week for the first time since giving them (3 years or so!!)

hi just been asked by a pregant women if i could give her a candle treatment does anyone know if the orgianal biosun candles have sage in them she research into shes now 6 months and been asking for 6 months

Yes, the original candles do have sage, but as I said above, it's in such low amounts so that it can't cause any problems for pregnant women.
