Anyone have help from a nutrition coach? I am a Holistic Life Coach, but even my own nutrition knowledge didn't help with my emotional eating or need to snack at night. There are so many therapies out there, how do you know what works if you don't try them?
So, certain things helped me stop snacking, I've talked about that in another blog post. But I also enlisted the help of a Holistic Nutrition Coach when it came to my emotional eating issues. Does boredom count as an emotion? I think it does.
How do you stop yourself from snacking, or binging even, when you are depressed, mad,... bored?
I think that the key is definitely in will power and the knowledge of healthy snacks that curb the need for sugar. How about you?
Nutrition is such a dodgy subject.

😀
Half the experts say we eat too much protein. The other half say we don't eat enough. Some experts say we should cut down on carbs. Others say we should cut down on meat. Some say avoid fat, others say eat more fat.
Oh do shut up. (Not you.)

Anyone have help from a nutrition coach?
Hi Vanessa
Um ..... this is what a Nutritional Therapist does! Guide the individual through their particular situation/problems to help improve their health. As we are all individuals there is no one diet that will suit all - each person needs to be assessed and advised individually. Sometime extra help is required by something like EFT, but not always necessary if you can change someone's mindset.
Sorry Caroline, I reread the thread and realised I misinterpreted what the reply was to be. Thanks for pointing out. I will delete it. Having a very thick couple of days.
Hi HolismCoach. I find eating out of boredom tends to be down to being unfulfilled in a particular area of your life or it could be to do with something emotional that you may or may not be aware of. I can only speak for the training I've had which did not include mindset/ emotional work so I would probably work with someone who could deal with that side of things as its not my area of expertise.
I can relate to eating when bored. There are a lot of us who do it, even the healthy ones! The fact that you are aware is a great starting point, now all you have to do is find out why you do it. I know why I do it so I am addressing it.
There are many books you can learn from like Louise Hay You Can Heal Your Life. Start there and see how you get on.
PS: Will power never works by the way and yes, stick to healthy snacks. You can also ask yourself if you really need it. I do and in the end I think no and prefer to deal with the emotion. At other times, only dark chocolate will do! 🙂
PSS: The key is try a load of therapies and see what works for you.

As a hypnotherapist / life coach I know that will power can be trumped by imagination EVERY time. But you ca increase your will power by using your imagination if you have a clear vision and belief in your final slim appearance.
Weight loss DOES need an holistic approach to the problems going on your life, a sensible approach to nutrition and exercise, and an acceptance that you are not going on a diet - you are making lifestyle changes so the weight doesn't creep back..
The best way to stop binge/emotional eating is to get better techniques for dealing with emotional issues. The Emotional Freedom techniques can be VERY helpful.
Eating
I have found that my techniques inform the individual but to change the mind frame can prove very difficult unless the individual has the real desire to change.
Change
But what if they desire to change, but just don't have the drive. I think of those as two very different things. There are still things about my eating that I want to change, but it seems so out of reach, which makes me less motivated. This month we have no money for food... it's starve or eat what the food pantry gives me... It's a lose lose situation.
Nutrition coatching
You understand what you need to eat to be healthy. A nutritionist takes it one step further by teaching you why you need certain nutrients and how they work with your body to sustain energy and vitality, and to prevent disease.
Your coach will help you pair foods that work well together, time your meals and understand how certain foods help your body function properly.
When you consult with a diet coach, he will create a plan for you to follow day-by-day based on your specific needs. He will take into account any medical needs, certain health conditions and whether you are training for an event such as a marathon or sports game.
Your diet coach will help you learn how to balance your macronutrients to allow your body the maximum intake of nutrients per meal to fuel your body.
Have a great day
Ivonne:)
