Has anyone come across this therapy? It is similar to a sauna, but instead of using steam, infra-red rays provide the heat so it is more comfortable.
All sorts of claims are being made as to its efficacy in cleansing and deep detox, as well as burning between 600 and 1000 calories in a single half hour session.

Hi Sugar
I'm also interested in what anyone else has to say.... i just booked a session for this Wednesday as I heard its good for skin conditions.
Infra red eh? Just like sitting in front of an electic bar fire.
I'd be careful you don't get burnt, literally or money wise. 😉
Can't say I've heard of this treatment before, but I would be wary of claims of losing so many calories so quickly. That, I believe, could only be achieved through profuse amounts of sweating (which is probably where the "detox" element comes from), but I'd be concerned about heat stroke etc if it's that "effective".
Have you ever tried sitting in a sauna for 1/2 an hour? If it's a good sauna, 15 minutes is a good session. 1/2 an hour can make you feel ill if you're not used to it.
I'd say, check up on it first and approach with caution.

I was in one a few days ago. I'd been for a body wrap at a dayspa and the therapist suggested I went into the infra red room as it would intensify the wrap benefits but to take some water in with me as it would burn calories off too.
I tried it, was warm and wouldn't put my back against the wood that was just a few inches away from elements.
I think it was nicer than the sauna, but hey ho didn't go in it for specific reasons apart from the therapist's suggestion.
I want to hear more about that therapy. Could anyone describe?
