I recently bought a pack of mixed tumblestones over the net for usewith my Crystal Healing group. To my amazement, quite a few of them were not what they seemed to be. The colours were basically pink, blue and purple and the stones appeared to be agate, quartz and a few that I couldn't identify. My question is - does anyone actually use these stones for healing ?- I assume the idea is that they are for use on the third eye and crown chakras, as the propercrystals for use with these chakras are expensive. As a scientist, my analytical brain tells me that these external colours will not affect the vibration of the true stone underneath[>:]. Obviously, if the crystal is quartz it can be used anywhere.
If these colours make no difference, anyone any idea how to shift the dye?
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
You have probably purchased a bag of 'bright' mixed tumblestones, these usually do include quite a number of dyed stones. The dye penetrates very deeply through the microcrystalline structure and is virtually impossible to remove completely. Usually the stones that are dyed are agates, and chalcedonys, which although having the same SiO2 makeup as quartz, retain the dye much more easily because of their mass. I tend to disagree that quartz can be used anywhere, that is only true of clear quartz not the others forms.
I personally don't use them in healing sessions because I feel that their energy is changed, obviously colour is refracted light and that will affect the inner energy vibration quite a lot. They are fine for colour healing sessions though.
There are many crystals that can be used on the higher chakras that don't cost a lot, Dumortierite and Sodalite as well as clear Quartz and Snow Quartz are some of the cheapest tumblestones around.
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
Thanks Gem for your reply. I'm afraid I have a habit of calling true quartz - quartz. As I'm only using them to teach Colour healing, looks as though they should be OK.
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
Hi When you sent for your crystals did it say tumled Stones, if so they will be real crystals but they have been put though a special process like a cement mixer with sand in and that makes the crystals smoth and in different sizes, I dont think you have dyed stones, this is the easier way for people to use the crystals as they are not sharp and they are cheaper as they are small, but I know what you mean about only a couple of colours, did u ask for Chakra colours (7 or 8) which ever you use, if so thats why you have been sent that amount of colours, hope this helps you. You need to look through all the sites selling Crystals and pick your stones yourself. I practice Chakra Healing and Crystal Healing if u want you can contact me. Best wishes June
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
Thanks June. I get my stones from Living Design who just advertize them as Large Tumblestones. If you can suggest a better supplier I would be most grateful.
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
I have seen these dyed stones called "enhanced"!!! I don't think any stone needs to be "enhanced" that way....;)
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
Hi Beej, thats exactly how I feel. They have such wonderful pure energy, why disrupt it with synthetic colourings[:@][:@][:@]
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
Yes, I've never met a stone that wasn't beautiful! 😉
RE: Dyed Tumblestones
I must admit to seeing the odd one that wasn't beautiful - but those usually have fantastic energy. Have you ever experienced holding Boji stones? They are so ugly, but so powerful - the real WOWWWWWWWW factor.
