Hello everyone,

I am quite new to crystals, having recently bought my first set and I am still discovering the most effective ways to use their power. A few days ago I learnt the heart breaking news that my wonderful Dad has got terminal cancer. We are bringing him home this week to continue his care, and would love to use some crystals to help him feel peace and comfort. Can you recommend any that would be suitable, and how best to use them? Thank you for reading.

I am so sorry to read this. All complementary therapies can be really helpful in this sort of situation. They are not a miracle cure - but they can be incredibly supportive to both the patient and their family.

I never used crystals in my hospice work, but when I read your post the ones that came to mind were quartz for communication, and amethyst to deal with negative emanations....possibly citrine for uplift.

I hope this is of some help to you - and don't forget to look after yourself as you support your dad. Self care is never selfish.

Thank you so much for your reply and kind words Tashanie, I will definitely try those crystals. Would it be best to place them in the room with him? Or should I encourage him to hold them when he feels he needs to? Sorry for all the questions, I'm still learning. Also thank you for your advice on my self care, I am using crystals for meditation and I am finding it is really helping me in moments when everything gets a bit too hard!

Hi Earthdaughter, I am a new member too. Sorry to hear about your Dad. The most important crystal I believe to use at this time is rose quartz. You can make an elixir and drink the water. I would also suggest you place a piece under his pillow. It is a crystal to balance your emotions. Also clear quartz as it is the master healer.

I am so sorry to hear your news. Sugalite is usually the first crystal that is used with anything to do with cancer.
I would find a crystal that your dad likes to hold, maybe in his palm and gently rub or stroke it, sounds wierd but it works. Also under the pillow is good or in a pocket. Or you could use a healing grid under the bed, the main thing is to be flexible and listen to his needs and wants.
Sending you all much love and reiki xxxx
