hey guys,

i see that there are dozens, probably hundreds, of books on crystals and their healing properties.

I have found a thread on this forum where people have recommended their favourite books 🙂

I was wondering though, whether anyone had found a book less than helpful? [:'(] and if so, and if it is permissible according to the forum rules, if they would share their experience?

I would find this very useful! as different books seem to give such different properties for each stone [&:]

Many thanks

as different books seem to give such different properties for each stone

Thats because each stone has a different energy... One piece of say Brasilian clear quartz might feel totally different to another piece from Madagascar...

I must admit that even the most popular crystal book, The Crystal Bible has parts that I really don't agree with, other bits that are totally wrong scientifically and misprints etc. But I never have found a book that I would totally right off... yet that is lol

thank you very much for your reply, gem, and for that interesting link 🙂 It would be really interesting to knowmore about which bits of The Crystal Bible are wrong, but maybe that would take too long to type out! 😀

many thanks again,

Exactly Gem! Every crystal is different because the energy of the crystal connects with the energy within the person using it. There are, of course, trends for each type of crystal, although much is based on myth or legend (eg Amethyst for drunkeness) or one person's experience, such as the author. The only book I have 'felt' to be nearest to my experience is 'Crystal Power, Crystal Healing' by Michael Gienger. I usually avoid, like the plague, those authors who imply "This is the way it is" with the unsaid 'because I say so!'

We think we know so much and yet we truly 'know' so little. Knowing and understanding the facts, such as mineralogy (classification, group, structure, formation, hardness, colour, etc) are important and understanding the energy cannot really be learnt from a book. The only way to learn that, in my view, is through experience and that way you find your own truth. I don't know whether you already have, but enrolling on a reputable Crystal Therapy course is an excellent way to discover the energy each crystal holds. The course will also use certain recommended books. Keep an open mind and an open heart and you will learn a great deal - and the learning doesn't stop there, it never stops!

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good luck!

JA
