I am totally new to crystal healing, I have a few stones and a couple of books I have been reading. I recently read that an amethyst crystal by your bedside is supposed to aid sleep.
I therefore cleansed my amethyst cluster (placed in glass of water on the windowsill for two nights, drained and left to dry in the sun) and then put on my beside table.
The first night I slept OK but I remember having weird dreams, second night absolutely fine but then again last night I had some horrible, very vivid dreams.
Has anyone ever experienced this before? Might some experts have suggestions as to why this might be?
Or might this just be pure coincidence?
Hiyas,
First leaving any crystal in water on a windowsill for two days is 1) unnecessary and 2) dangerous!
Amethyst helps a person to work through their sub-conscious thoughts, these may be what is troubling them during sleep, so the Amethyst by helping the person to face them and prepare or understand them will lead to more peaceful sleep. Many people misunderstand Amethyst and think they will get good sleep straight away.
Persevere. 🙂
Hi Cascara,
Thanks for your reply. Can you suggest the best way of cleansing my crystals please? I read this cleansing technique online and in a book that I have, hence following it.
So the dreams may well be my sub-concisous thoughts coming through. I will certainly persevere...hopefully I don't have many more disturbing sub-concious thoughts coming through!
Thanks!

Amethysts are individuals. too. Some will do this. Others won't.
All crystals are individuals, but the vibrational harmonics of what makes amethyst Amethyst have to be there.

Well a quick second under cold running water for a lot will do nicely then dry on a natural fiber, cotton towel. Others do well i the sun or the moon, but many may fade. But the big point is you shouldn't need to cleanse much unless you are doing really heavy duty work or are a crystal healer working with clients.

But the choice to do anything is always theirs.
Sometimes just being there is enough, water can't decide not to be water, just as a crystal that is Amethyst can't decide not to be Silicon dioxide, the effects of their existence is enough.
So you would use a crystal even if it didn't want to be used?
Crowan dear, why don't you find someone that believes in programming crystals and ask them what they think and do hmm?
Programming?
Hi,
People do misunderstand amethyst.
Amethyst connects with the higher chakras - 3rd eye and crown. It can also have the effect of ungrounding people -taking people's energy higher than the physical body. This can create feelings of disconnection, fear, dreaminess etc. For some people amethyst is simply a bad crystal for them.
When we sleep the mental barriers that keep our fears and worries etc in check come down. Hence we dream about our fears and worries.
If you are a fairly ungrounded person then amethyst will simply unground you even more and may in turn lead to bad or extremely vivid dreams. Of course for the right person amethyst can be amazing and liberating. Some people like to use a grounding crystal with amethyst but it is a very personal choice.
I hope that helps.
Kindest regards,
Christina
