Hello all, I have a nearly five month old baby and have been suffering from some form of depression, anxiety. I have been having CBT and havent seen much improvement even though im so much better now. I was told that human givens is a better form of therapy to help with depression.
Would love to hear from people whos used or had humans givens treatment?

A number of my colleagues practice Human Givens therapy and, having worked in a service that used standard CBT for treatment of depression, I would make a guess that HG practitioners would have more flexibility to adapt the treatment to the individual than therapists trained only in CBT, and whilst some interventions may seem similar HG therapists perhaps have a wider range of treatment tools.

On the other hand, research shows that the effectiveness of therapy depends more on how well you connect with the individual therapist rather than the actual therapeutic approach itself.

Thankyou for your reply Masha, the lady im seeing on wednesday is also trained in NLP,EFT so im hoping she will be able to combine her therapies to suit my needs 🙂

Im now wondering if depression or post traumatic stress can get better with time, as im feeling so much better and having a decent nights sleep makes the differance:)

It sounds like the therapist you will be seeing has a good combination of skills - most importantly, notice how comfortable you feel with her as it's the main box to tick.

Yes both depression and post-traumatic stress can improve over time without outside intervention - but I will be guessing that something you are doing yourself is making a difference, so I suggest to notice what it is that makes you feel better - and do some more of it 🙂

Best of luck

Masha
