Hi
Just registered. I wonder if anyone has any experience of a Diploma in Addictions Counselling? I am considering going for the course after I didn't get a place for a general Diploma course at my local College.

I'm a little concerned about the interview where I am required to give a 10 minute presentation entitled "How I help People" and also bring a piece a written work. The interview alone would have been worrying enough, now I'm frankly terrified!
I'd be grateful if anyone could give me advice on what to say/not say and generally help me not to f*** this up for myself. When I did the Certificate course in counselling skills, there was no interview. We just signed up, paid and went.

I was caught off guard with my College interview as I was only expecting a 20 minute chat about the course and was presented with a 45 minute in-depth questioning which I feel I messed up because I didn't get in. Although to be fair to myself, money was a big issue there and they wanted people to pay money up front to show they were serious about the course, whcih I was unable to do (I was going to get a career development loan).

Also is it everywhere that has put the price of counselling courses through the roof compared to last year? In my town they have got rid of concessionary rates completely.
