Oooo, I hate it when we get these ones...

Do we allow responses saying that they have set up their own forum or not? It's sort of going against Healthypages itself, although we don't seem to specifically have a councelling forum (perhaps we should get Mike to create one?)

Although i don't think she was intentionally 'touting', the wording still comes across as self promotion and i feel it needs editing along with a slapped wrist( done verily gently of course!););)

Hi Giles

I don't think specialised forums are any problem to HP, it is only when someone sets up one to run the same as this one that it is deemed to be a threat 😉

Wondered if we could get round this one by editing it to add something like 'please PM/email details'?

I'm not sure about a new forum as I thought this type of thing went in the 'Mental & Emotional' forum?

I dont think it shouls stay as it is a promo, and Ma nd E covers this

If we set up a counselling forum we might then have to moderate and refer on even more people with heavy duty issues..along with unqualified /inexperienced people jumping in with advice or offering counselling on line...can -o -worms me thinks

Not M&E ... should be Mind Therapies, where counselling is already included anyway ... see the descriptive text against it on main page.

From that post:

If you would like to join please PM me so that I can give you the link.

Likewise if there are any counsellors or others interested in joining please contact me.

Too much! Just a brief 'PM me FFI' should suffice.;)

That's if it's allowed ... I do think Paul has a point though, and eg in the Beauty Therapy forum I've seen loads of posts directing others to specialist forums for spray tanning and similar.

It does look like self-promotion though ... if someone ELSE had posted it, rather than the member herself.

[Actually, I think I met her at the SW meet up a couple of years ago, very nice lady and IIRC the husband was there too. Interesting though how FEW posts she's made in the interim, innit [being cynical again ]].

Will delete within the next 5 minutes if no one else beats me to it 🙂

Re Melissa's thread, will move and shall reword it from:

Does anybody know if there is a forum, like healthypages, but purely devoted to counseling?

to:

Can anybody recommend a counselling forum?

Wow, looks like a full on Healthypages clone. Apart from a darker shade of green. 😉

Go for it, I ain't runnin' no races!

Can anybody recommend a counselling forum?

Answer to be posted: "Yes, right here, you're in one!" 😉 😀

Joking aside, there are probably so many out there, it might depend largely on the type of counselling. I may have something from way back in my Favourites, I'll have a look later.

Excellent! Maybe just qualify 'advertising' by saying something about 'promoting own products or services', so it's absolutuly clear? Also perhaps begin by saying: 'I'm very sorry but .....'

Suggestion ... just for now, perhaps remove the starter post to TUD while we consider what may be said in reply to that one.

NB for general guidance: When moving a post/thread to TUD, DON'T leave a redirect notice on the forum from which you remove it. We don't want members to see this 😉

Ah, only snag to having sent her the link is that the post linked to is now in TUD.

On HP.net we had some long discussions as to whether or not 'ordinary' members could gain access to this. With luck if she clicks on it, she'll get the 'you can't go there' message, but since we had the earlier loophole re Mystic2003 viewing mods posts, I'll put a note on the Admin forum for Mike to check it.

You could take a copy of the link, log in as MeeMee and see if MeeMee can access it or whether she (he?) get's the "you can't go there" message. 😉

So could you 😉 Or anyone. MeeMee was registered by Amy, therefore is considered to be 'she', but anyone can be MeeMee. The password is also MeeMee for ease of remembering.

I will later, if I get time, if anyone else wants to in the meantime, feel free 🙂
