Hello everyone,

I'm new here and I have a few questions. Can anyone help?
I was wondering what is the difference between a colonic (hydrotherapy) and an enema?

Also, this may sound silly but if using coffee does it matter if it's caffienated?

-And last, I have a friendwho has colonics done twice a month, but I read you should do it no more than 4 times a year.

By the way, my friend who has it done twice a month looks amazing since she's been doing this... beautiful skin lovely shiney hair, lovely thick long eyelashes.

I'd appreciate any help at all. Thanks.

Hi Daisy

An enema is a small bag of fluid which usually (if a medically prescribed one) has something like phosphate in it which acts to irritate the gut lining and cause it to contract and expel faecal contents.

A colonic hydrotherapy (also known as irrigation) is much more gentle than an enema as warm water is slowly introduced to the bowel via gravity (which means it is impossible to "overfill" as some people mistakenly think can happen...it can't). The client lets the therapist know when thye want the water released and the water flows back out bringing with it any faecal content. It is infinetly more comfortable than an enema.

The coffee that is used for colonics is different to what is used in drinks, you have to purchase it specially.

There is no set amount of colonics that someone might need, it doesn't matter whether it is one or a hundred and one. They don't make the bowel lazy, in fact they tone it. There is no such limit such as four times a year, that is all fallacy.

Anyone who has a good diet and a well functioning colon should have good skin and glossy hair (unless they are bald :D).

Re, the amount of colonics....very often only one treatment is enough. I don't buy into people purchasing courses until they have had at least one treatment as they may not require it.

Thank you Patchouli, very much appreciated. I bought a kit that says colonic on it but there is nothing that flows the water back out. From your description it sounds like a kit for an enema. Other than comfort, do they basically perform the same function on the bowel, cleansing? I was hoping to do it once a month.

Thank you again for the information.

Yep they are both basically for getting rid of anything that needs to come out;)

Sounds like an enema kit that you have but if it does the job. Can't see a problem with once a month or when you feel the need. Take into consideration diet as well and try get loads of soluble fibre in you too.

Many, many people do their own self-administered treatments at home.

It's actually the caffeine that is the important factor for the cleansing aspect, it goes directly to the liver and has a major effect.

That would mean it is more than just the caffeine. What else in the coffee is having an effect? The usual comment about the coffee I've seen is it can't be decaffeinated, not that it is different.

i've spoken to a friend who has regular treatment and she said it was normal organic coffee as long as it has caffiene. i'm getting confused. i might try a wheat grass one.

I do not use supermarket or other coffee.

The coffee I use is Wilsons coffee.

Here is the link with all the info. As you will see in the pix, it doesn't look like your regular coffee.

As can be seen, this is far superior and is very different.

Thanks, I wasn't even aware there was coffee with almost 50% more caffeine than usual. That is different 🙂 The higher caffeine would certainly intensify the results and it sounds like it's not blended for taste, mainly the active compounds. So the palmitic acid and cafestol and it sounds like other compounds contribute to the outcome too.

Yep, its pretty cool stuff, you have to boil it for a while in a pot and then leave to cool, sieve and then reheat when doing colonic.

Great. Thank you for the link. I didn't know this kind of coffee existed either.

Have you any advice about wheatgrass ?
Thanks again!:)
