Hi,

I know I’ve had a few threads on this section before (apologies) – but I was just wondering whether any Bowen practitioner can answer a query I have.

I started having Bowen last year as I used to get muscle spasms in my shoulders and neck that caused migraines, as the tightening muscles pressed on the nerves in my neck. I’d tried everything before – acupuncture, reflexology, homeopathy etc but with limited success. Bowen did seem to alleviate most of the problems – and I’ve been having Bowen every few weeks for about 6/8 months.

However about a month ago – I felt the muscles in the back of my shoulders and at the base of my neck hurt a bit. A week ago I also lost the feeling in my left arm (it felt like sciatica does in the leg and was numb as well). It all came to a head (sorry about the pun) with a violent migraine at the beginning of this week. I felt so bad I had to phone my physio (who I haven’t had to see since last July). When I saw him he was shocked as he said that the muscles in my shoulders were as hard as boards and have me some ultrasound to try and relax them.

I've had a stressful time recently but what I wanted to ask was – why have my muscles suddenly become so tense and hard if I’ve been having Bowen regularly ? I’m back on painkillers at the moment which I shouldn’t really, as I’ve just been diagnosed with a stomach ulcer but the pain in my shoulders, neck and head is so bad that I have to take something.

Any ideas as to why this has happened even though I’ve been having Bowen regularly ?

Thanks all. Love and hugs.
