Are there any Bowen therapists online who have had experience of treating stroke victims?

I've got a fair idea of what I think will be needed and I appreciate everyone is an individual and responds differently however any advice on how you have achieved good responses would be much appreciated.

Thanks 🙂

Sorry, can't really help on this one. My notes say Chest Pain Procedure for "heart conditions". In doubt, do ask you tutor.

Bowen is excellant for stroke victims. It is a good idea for the stroke patient to have bowen as soon as possible, I am advised by my tutor that the more moves administered the better, to wake up the system.
My mother had a stroke 20+ yrs ago and has been having bowen on & off for two years. She rates it for alleviating her back pain, oedema in her ankles and generally keeping mobile. I have also been treating a stroke patient of 8yrs ago, for 15months. When I started she was completely immobile, she can now walk across the room! As well as treating her minor ailments she has found it especially beneficial for her shoulders, knees and ankles aiding stability.

stroke treatments

Hi there

If you are BowTech trained there is a tutor who does training courses for 'Bowen for the immobile, chronic fatigue etc' This includes stroke. Her name is Robyn Wood and she is based in Australia, but does courses across Europe [inc. UK] regularly.

I know that this is not much help right now to you, but may be of interest in future.

When I treated my aunt who had a stroke 40 years ago!! I just did the BRMs, as best I could [she is chairbound and very rigid] and concentrated on the parts of her body that were in discomfort. I see her every three weeks or so, just for top ups. I am not working on the 'stroke' side really as the pain is in her 'good' arm and shoulder, due to overdependece on this side over the past 40 years.

Bowen seems to have helped her psychologcially too, as the GP had told her that there was nothing more that could be done for her [great!!]

One of the other things it helped with was incontinence - getting to the toilet is a problem due to the immobility, and she was finding it difficult to control her bladder long enough to get there. Bowen seemed to help with that and so it is not an embarrassment any longer.

Good luck [PS where are you based? as there may be some therapists who have done the Robyn Wood course near you]
Cheers
JJ

Bowen has had some great results with Stroke patients. My uncle in Edinburgh had a really bad stroke during the op to help the one he had proir to that. It has left him in a wheel chair and he has very little speech left. Bowen can be used every 4 or so days with someone suffering the effects of a stroke and a lot of them have seen great improvements in movement and speech. I only wish I could be back in Edinburgh to treat him myself as he won't go to see anyone else.
