Does anyone have an experince of using the Bowen technique to lessen the symptoms of a BET? Parkinson's disease has been ruled out my GP's and involuntary muscle shaking appears to ease after chiropratic manipulation, especially around the cervical bones, which become sore after treatment.
Any comments greatfully received as my mother is finding it difficult to come to terms with the fact that she make shake for the rest of her life, as usual drugs cannot be used to a heart arythmia.
Many thanks

Hi ya
I'm not a Bowen Therapist, but a Tai Chi Instructor & Oriental Bodyworker. I had a Tai Chi student with Benign Essential Tremor, and at the end of the 1 hour session, she would always calm down and stop tremoring. I think from an Oriental point of view, she had too much energy up in the head and by practising Tai Chi & Qi Gong exercises, her energy balanced out and grounded to "earth".
If you are working the head and neck area, you may have to work the feet as well. My Qi Gong tutor (who is an acupuncturist as well) works with Parkinsons patients, and one of the techniques he uses is working the feet (via the Stomach Meridian - have a look at an acupuncture chart) for the same reason I mentioned above. I know these two dieases may have different names but they seem to be similiar.
Hope this is useful.
Best Wishes

Deukissa - my Bowen friend Effie replied, and here is the meat of her msg :
With regard to Bowen, while of course people come to us for all sorts of aches, pains and other conditions our philosophy is that we treat the individual to improve the overall wellbeing of the person which often does involve relieving those aches and pains and other presenting symptoms. That said, I can't recall treating anyone specifically for Benign Essential Tremor.
With Bowen we are helping to normalise the nervous, hormonal and all the other body systems and so I would say that Bowen can help everyone regardless of their condition. What I can't guarantee beforehand is by how much. I've had some 70+ year olds respond more quickly and completely than some 50 year olds but generally they all feel better and sometimes they are surprised that other conditions that were not of primary concern improve or clear up. The beauty of Bowen is that it is a gentle therapy that speeds up your own natural healing process and most people feel some benefit after even one treatment though we ask that they commit themselves to only three treatments by which time many people feel much better.
I hope my answer is helpful. Generally speaking there are no contraindications with Bowen so we can treat everyone regardless of their age or state of health.
I do hope that is of help to your mother. Having watched Efiie carrying out treatments, I am most impressed with the responses that take place, so well worth trying.

Thanks Doq, much appreciated. I've passed this info on to my mother. All the daughters are getting her a few bowen treatments for her birthday and christmas so we're hoping it'll all help.
Thanks so much for taking the time - it has helped perk mum up no end!
