Hey jabba

Its on the ITEC facial electrical syllabus as two seperate contra - actions to galvanic treatments and I am a bit confused as to their difference. I am due to teach facial electrical in a few months but it has been a while since I trained. My understanding is that they are pretty much the same when it comes to facial electrical but for electrolysis are different?? ahh soo confused and google not helping at all

I know nothing about this subject, but might I offer an idea.

'Caustic burn' to me means chemical - ie caustic soda will burn the skin if applied.

Could 'galvanic burn' mean electrical? I don't actually know - just guessing.

Both would have to be treated to repair the skin. By whom, would depend on the damage so caused.

Caustic is chemical - but primarily alkaline chemicals (Caustic soda is strongly alkaline) I have never heard of galvanic burns. But I just googled galvanic burns it they apparently appear mainly under the cathode - which implies it IS electrical..

Thanks guys

Thats where the confusion sets it, during galvanic facial treatments sodium hydroxide(aka caustic) is produced under the cathode, which would make me think caustic and galvanic burns in relation to facial electrical treatments would both be chemical burns. I think I might email ITEC for an answer... will keep ye posted 🙂
