I notice in summer that my arms smell of my scent, this is a hormone. I suppose its the sun cooking the oil on my skin and producing a natural scent.

I also notice, as a male, that hairy part of my body like the knee, yes, the knee, smell sometimes and I think that is the hair trapping the air and it mixing with me and I wondering if I waxed my arms if my skin would smell less on not at all?

Thanks.

Hormone? or B.O.?

B.O. is typically produced by bacteria on the skin that 'eat' our sweat (our sweat itself doesn't really smell).

As for hair removal, it swings in roundabouts. On the one hand, removing hair would prevent air getting trapped near the skin which is usally insulating, and therefore would act to allow moving air to cool you down more, providing the air is moving across your skin... on the other hand, the hair allows sweat to remain in the areas it's needed as the sweat acts to assist in the cooling of the body, so without the hair the sweat would just run down the skin gravity wise, and end up probably in places you don't want it.

The body is usually quite good at regulating itself. In winter our exposed skin makes the hairs stand up so they trap more air for insulation, and in the summer the hairs lay flatter so that the insulation effect is reduced and they act more to hold the sweat which does the cooling.

My advice, just wash regularly and leave the hair alone. 😉

Ah, thanks for your post.

No, it's not B.O., it's a nice smell, an attractive one, I'm sure it's a hormone. I notice it in summer and my forearms are exposed and know that when I cook my hair picks up the smell of the smoke, when I go outside the same with the air, it picks on up the hair on my arms.

I was wondering if then my arm would not keep any scent because I find the other side of my arm (where the is no hair) to not smell of anything.
