I wonder if anyone can advise, I have recently bought a paraffin bath for manicures & pedicures to do at pamper parties.

But what i'm not sure about is, do I need to change the wax every time someone has put their hands or feet into the bath. If so maybe it's not a good treatmentto have at pamper parties.

Suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks xx

RE: Paraffin Wax??

Hi Lolla,

I would avoid dipping body parts directly into the paraffin bath unless you plan to change the wax after each client (which gets pricey!). I know some therapists don't see this as a problem, but aside from the risk of cross-contamination, I personally don't believe it's avery pleasant thought to know that someone else's foot has been swilling around in the same wax before yours!

Why not dip gauze strips into the wax and wrap these around feet and hands, or decant a smaller amount of melted wax into a plastic bowl lined with foil - if you work quickly, you can then brush the wax directly onto the body part, adding layers and transferring more from the heater as needed. Change the foil and throw away any remaining decanted wax between clients - this cuts out any risk of cross-contamination but you only ever decant the amount you need per person, which reduces wastage and cost.

Hope that helps [8D]

Andy 🙂

RE: Paraffin Wax??

Thanks Andy!

Great advise! Have my first pamper party this Thursday & the most requested treatments are for the paraffin wax.

I shall be pouring asmaller amount of wax into a bowl & brushing it on, as you suggested.Instead of dippingtheir hands or feetinto the bath as I agree with you it is not very hygienic!

Thanks again!

RE: Paraffin Wax??

Hi Lolla,

As a quick follow-up to this, I saw something today which I thought you might like to know about... Hive have just brought out a new "spray" style applicator for their paraffin wax which might be another option for you. Individual cartridges are heated in a chamber similar to roll-on waxing, and a spray-gun head is then attached which allows you to quickly andhygienically spray the paraffin onto the required area, before slotting the cartridge back in the heating unit to keep the wax warm! You can also use the heating unit to warm traditional roll-on wax cartridges, so it's multi-functional and seems ideal for mobile use.

Not used the system myself, but it's good to know these things!! 😀
