Hello,

Can anyone give advice on which is the best type of nail technology course to enroll on.

I am looking at one at a college in Leeds which is the ITEC diploma in Nail Technologies but have also heard that Creative Nails is very good too.

I know that ITEC is internationally recognised which is why I thought this would be the better one to go for.

Does anyone know what qualification you obtain from the Creative Nails course? Is it their own qualification?

Is there anyone who has completed this course who can give me an idea on price?

Do salons prefer one of these qualifications over the other?

If anyone could recommend any other courses apart from the above, I would appreciate it as want to make sure I explore all of the options before I go ahead and enroll.

Thanks

Sarah x

RE: Nail courses

Hiya Sarah,

I have done nail technology at both NC and HND and have also done the Creative course.

I don't know much about the Itec course, but I imagine it would be comparable to the nc/hnd courses for information. The CND foundation is mostly geared towards nail enhancements and is their own qualification, however they have an excellent reputation and salons would be very lucky to have a technician trained by them. They are very in depth both about the actual practical side and the sanitation and hygiene. They also have further courses eg, master courses, etc.

I did the creative course in Scotland and paid about £800, but that was almost three years ago. It has gone up and I'm sure the prices were different in England anyway. You should be able to find out if you go to their website and call your nearest academy.

It is completely up to you. I think you would be better to call the college and find out exactly what is involved and also to call the creative academy and ask them. Also find out if the CND qualification is insurable (I'm sure it is, but you would have to double check anyway).

Finally, I don't know which salons prefer, I don't think they would actually prefer either - why not ring your local salons and enquire? - as they are both fantastic qualifications. It just depends on yourself and which you would prefer.

I'm sorry, I don't think I've actually been any help when I re-read my post, lol. If you want to know anything else, just ask.

Linzi x
