Well this is the first time I have stepped foot into this forum so am hoping all you beauticians can give me so good advice.

In recent months I have developed a largest dent in my right cheek under the cheekbone. You can't see it if I smile but I can't go around with a fixed grin.LOL!

I spoke to the doctor about it today and she asked me if I had noticed any other dents in my body and told me that I was losing muscle tone. What can you recommend for maintaining and improving muscle tone in the face? I looked at all the OAP's in the surgery and they didn't have any dents in their faces!

I think it used to be a sweet dimple that has now turned into a large whole!

Many thanks

Kim xx

RE: Losing muscle tone in face

Hi
there are several things you can try:

1. eat loads of vitamin c, to keep up ccollagen production thus minamising the visual problem

2. drink plenty of water to keep the facial tissues hydrated and prevent the muscle fibresliterally drying out and 'bunching up'

3. find someone to do you a course of CACI treatments - a treatment that puts a VERY mild ecectrical current through muscle to make it contract and relax, essentially body building for the face !

4. find a facelift massage/facial rejuvenation/indian face massage pratitioner. this does the same as the CACI but manually with a very specialised massage techniqe (this also smoothes out the muscle fibres). massage will also help to ease tension in facial muscles inc scalp and neck...

5. i dont know if this will help your specific problem but you coluld try an acupucturist who specialises in 'facial rejuvenation - not to be confused with number 4 above! same name but this is acupuncture and therfore uses needles...

good luck in your quest to reclaime muscle tone!

take care

RE: Losing muscle tone in face

Hi Saffron thank you for the advice given. I will certainly start taking Vit C again and drink more water. I have made an appointment to see the kinesiologist on Monday and it seems that metaphysically skin is about grief. However, we are talking about muscles. Heal Your Body says muscles is do with resisting new experiences and the ability to move, then the face 'what we show the world'. Certainly I did have an in my face experience with a family member this year following a family passing. 5 hours of verbal abuse and being threatened with being killed was not a nice experience. In fact, the person concerned broke my heart, grief can do funny things to people especially when money is involved. I can't remember whether this dent appeared before or after I think I first noticed it around this time.

The pharmacist just looked at it and said that she recommends a different doctors view as there could be something much more serious going on, especially as a filling from the same side just fell out as well. I am now wondering what illnesses are associated with losing muscle tone, my diet has been normal although I have not regained my normal healthy appetite since mum passed.

Hi Kim

Totally agree on all Saffron's points. If you are not keen on the CACI treatments, then definitely go for Indian Face Massage as this is a natural rejuvenation therapy and is amazing. A course of 4/6 will certainly give you results. Not sure whereabouts you live but if you log on to the Federation of Holistic Therapists website you may find a therapist in your area

If, however you are not happy with your Doctor's diagnosis, it may be worthwhile seeking out a homeopathic doctor for their advice - but I would try and seek a second opinion of some sort - if only to put your mind at rest.

Hi Sacredstar

There are lots of books on Facial Exercises and these improve your face muscles.

I have bought an electrical thingo called Cleo (do a search on Google) which costs about £300. It's similar to CACI but you use it yourself. I can recommend it. But read about it in other places (places like epinions, where people who aren't selling stuff tell you about it). You can normally buy them from ebay too.

Dear Ava

Thank you for the advice ouch! Expensive! Not used to spending money on the self and now I am asking myself am I that vain? 😀 I will look into it but first a holiday in the sunshine is very much the priority. 😉

What with kidneys, back, teeth and face I feel like I have been in the wars physically......now I cannot understand why I am so happy.......probably cos I don't get time to dwell on anything....,.LOL ! 😉

Big hugs

Hi Kim

The books are pretty good though. There is one by a woman whose last name is Frazer (Fraser?). You could have a try of them. You have to be keen to get one of the Cleos. I did have look after getting off HP last night, and they are selling for around £100 on ebay. But yes, that's still a lot of money.

RE: Losing muscle tone in face

Hi everyone well after the first treatment of Indian head massage with reiki there was a 50% improvement for a couple of days then it lapsed back. 2nd treatment today was amazing and I feel very positive about these treatments so far. Also bumped into a beautician I used see up to 1998 and we are going to do a swap so looking forward to a wonderful facial too.

Thank all for your help and advice.
