Dear all

Just need some advice.

I am doing a facial on a 10/11year older later her mum booked it as a treat only using soothing products called someone for advice she said that they do not normally have facials so young I thought it is a good thing to get her into espeically starting secondary school in sept.

Any tips would be good thanks

Don't really know what you would do to benefit pre-teen skin - not sure that it needs improving. Why would a facial need to be viewed as 'something to get used to having' - makes it sound like some sort of initiation ritual. I think we have to stop glamourising our kids and let them be kids. However, Mum has paid, I guess.

facials tone skin, rejuvinate circulation etc etc but at the age of 11 or 12 none of that applies as the body does not need all that until it is atleast 25-30.
Too early and too many facials can cause the skin to lose its elasticity and firmness. Adverse effect. It happened to the big sis of a close friend who ended up with saggy skin and premature wrinkles around eyes. Don't fix what is't broke is my motto but each to their own

I would as a beauty therapist atleast make them aware of this possible outcome and if they still want to press on, thats up to them

Thanks again for your comments it is not something I would do on a regular basis she had this voucher as a one off treat and she is the 1st young girl I have had. I am sure that young girls start to ask questions about skin care as there bodies etc start to change. If she comes back when she is older I would be happy to talk to her about her skin care routine.
Just for clarity :
It was not "some sort of initiation ritual" - where did that come from ? ? The mum asked if she could bring her daughter along to try a treatment.

I also agree that "We have to stop glamourising our kids and let them be kids" - But I never have and never will !

Perhaps my original post was poorly written and misleading to prompt your responses......
