If this is in the wrong place Mods please move.
This is a long shot but here goes.My husbands cousin moved to Spain 8 years ago and the good news is that her husbands depression is now under control and they have put it down to the weather and other things. The downside, however is that the sun has taken its course on their skin and she decided to have a bleph ? (not sure how to spell it,its under and upper eye cosmetic surgery) last April. It has changed her appearance but not in the way she wanted, she returned to the surgeon to tell him that he took too much skin from the uppers near the nose so the eyes are high at inner corners and down at outer corners,Her surgeon said he could do nothing as she had signed to say that she was informed of possible problems occuring. He has suggested skin grafts but she would have to pay more and she does not want to do this as it could get worse. The lower lids also are falling at outer corners so you can imagine how depressed she is.I was wondering if she taped the inner corners down while sleeping or during the day she may be able to stretch the skin, does anyone have any other ideas? If I had known she was doing this I would have tried to talk her out of it but its too late for that 🙁
I doubt the tape would help, it might cause even more misery.
Firstly, don't go back to the same surgeon, he's already 'done enough already', as they say, and you've heard his response.
Secondly, his attitude sucks - of course he could do something about it - the waiver doesn't prohibit him from putting it right. What he means is that he doesn't want to help, he's only in it for the money. But would you really want him to have another go having seen his work?
Be clear that the waiver does not give him the right to disfigure patients with impunity.
I would get a second opinion, and perhaps the view of a personal injury lawyer, to see if perhaps the work is below a reasonable standard. Perhaps redress should be obtained that way, for example a claim for the expenses of putting it right by a more skilled surgeon, and compensation for distress.

Kdvp that is good advice, its ironic how they left the Uk to have a happier life and now this.Does it matter how long since she had the surgery, would they not question why she left it so long to see a lawyer and should she tell the surgeon, if he offers more surgery does she loose out if she refuses ?
I don't know, as I'm not an expert in surgery or law. But April isn't so long, I'd have thought it might take a while to realise that it wasn't healing as expected, and life takes over. But instinctvely it would make sense to start seeking professional opinions on both aspects (legal and medical) as soon as possible.

I have emailed her and she said she has thought about it but is so down she cannot face him but her hubbie wants her to.I really hope she does, she is back in the uk the end of the month and hopefully she will get some legal advice there, thanks kvdp, I will let you know how it goes.
In general, star99, cosmetic surgery threads seem to be in the Beauty Therapies forum, so that's where I've moved it for you. 🙂
Holistic
It's very difficult to get things put right when surgery is done in a different country. - has good information for stuff happening in the UK, which isn't much help to you.
I think if solicitors are going to get involved, they would need to be based in Spain. kvpd is right - she also needs a second opinion from another surgeon as it sounds like she now needs corrective, as opposed to cosmetic, surgery.
It's entirely her choice, the first rule is don't make it worse, and if getting on with life is more important, that's fine too.
Perhaps instead of hiding from the world she should stand outside his office and greet every new visitor with a smile!
Facial excercises
Hi, just wondered if your friend would like to try facial excercises to correct her problems. There are two she could try. the first is a British site, and very helpful, the second American therefore has a lot of razzamatazz, but has good feedback...please tell her to give it a go. 🙂

Jabba the surgery was actually done int the UK, and yes corrective surgery is vital but she is now afraid to let anyone near her.
Sorry - didn't pick that up in your first post. In which case, she most definately can get a UK solicitor on the case, plus get an opinion on corrective surgery. She ought to do something, even if it is just to let the original surgeon realise that people are not going to just put up with shoddy work.
I would get the CAB involved too, so that they can give advice on which organisation she could go to, in order to get some redress to the original problem.
Thanks Jabba, I have sent her on the link you posted earlier and she is seeking a lawyer for personal injury at the end of the month. She has sent me on some pics as I have not seen her in a few months and it seems to have got worse, gravity seems to have taking its toll more.
Kvdp perhaps she should stand outside his door :), either way this has to be brought to light, Im quite sure she is not the only one and he has photos before the surgery.

cosmetic surgery
The physical benefits of cosmetic surgery are very obvious to the eye. People who get plastic surgery show benefits that are immediately noticeable, even if at first they may not look beautiful due to swelling and bruising. For example, if a woman undergoes breast augmentation, her larger cup size will be seen right away, even if her breasts have scars or bruises. The same is true for angioplasty and most other types of plastic surgery – these physical benefits are right there.
