Hi I really hope someone can help me. I had my haircut today i have it short but its been cut too short and the sides of my head look like bald patches. Now its defiantly not bald but is lighter that the rest of my hair in parts. Do you think a dark hair dye would make this look better as im a bit upset with this cut but its only hair i know and it will grow but i guess i want to make the best out of a bad situation. thanks xx

Hi Serendipity - I know how awful a bad haircut can be!

A semi-permanent colour just a bit darker than your natural hair shade would probably blend it in - just don't be tempted to go too dark or it could look harsh. Coconut oil applied overnight (you'd have to wash it out in the morning, of course) can speed up the growing process, I've found.

Try not to feel self-conscious - others won't notice half as much as you think! Good luck 🙂

This is one of th most common issues that we have to deal with, unfortunately many salons don't listen to their clients.

The best solution is to find a good stylist who would be able to talk you through the various options. The most important things to consider are face shape and skin tone and therefore it's not possible to give a definitive answer without seeing you.

I would avoid a DIY colour because you have no control over the amount you put on and the outcome may not be as you wish. More importantly, if you go darker it becomes a lot harder to return to a lighter colour.

Hi
I do agree with last post, is difficult to assess without seeing your structure and skin tone.
i am part time hairdresser(over 20 years) and would be wary off dark colour, especially DIY as you have no control and not expertise on choosing the right tone. The problem I also encounter is people doing DIY and most often come to the salon to get it fix costing lots of money to get it corrected.
beware of too dark shades as by contrast, they show more scalp underneath making the bad haircut even more noticeable.
The best solution is t go to a reputable salon and get the haircut fixed. You might have to go slightly shorter but at least it won t look dodgy.
In case have a chat with the colorist and ask for suggestion how to enhance a short haircut.
Good luck
L.
