Hi,

After studying beauty at college for two years and left six moths ago.
Ive been unable to get a job in a salon so thinking about striking out on my own.

Just wondering about the start up cost and what to charge? 🙂

I have a friend who was a mobile beauty therapist - for about 8 months. She admitted to me, after she set up in a rented room, that she hadn't planned properly and ended up losing money and being totally dependent on her husband. So, before you do anything, write lists of pros and cons - expenses/outlay/stock/carrying cases/therapy couch - actually, just write down everything, and decide what area you intend to cover. You must take into account fuel and everything to do with what goes with running a car, so that it can be included on your tax return (if you decide to go the self-employed/self-assessment route).

You could try using the Search facility on this site (in the icon bar above) put something like 'mobile beauty therapy' or 'mobile business' - I just did this, and there are pages and pages of threads discussing this very topic, where you may find some opinions - good or bad!
