Hi everyone. I'm new here.
I'm currently preparing for my practical exam in facial and would really appreciate you help.
Particularly, i need advise on clay mask. I've got a client with combination skin which is also sensitive and dehydrated and i'm a bit confused which cllay mask to choose.
I'm thinking about kaolin+calamine+rose water (or maybe orange water?), and nourishing mask for neck. Have you got any better ideas? Really worried about failing on this so any advise is much appreciated.
Thanks a lot.
Hello,
I have just seen your post.If the client has got sensitive and dehydrated skin I wouldnt use kaolin for their skin.My advice would be to use
Calamine and mix it with either grapeseed oil for non setting mask or rose water for setting mask. This could be used all over or just on the sensitive areas and magnesium for the dehydrated areas.
Just in case you didn't know hear is what I teach the students (im a beauty tutor)
Calamine -Sensitive skin
Magnesium - Normal skin
Kaolin -slightly oily skin
Fullers earth -Very oily skin
Flowers of sulphur -on spots only
Good luck in your exams
Helen
Calamine and rose water would be the best choice for a sensitive skin type as they are not to stronger on the skin
I'd go with the cal and rosewater too, though I'm in a middle of my practicial assessments too and have been taught to use what you suggested in your first post.
The clay masks confuse me as well, as there isn't one aimed at dry skin. I guess megnesium is the closest, but that ones seems quite generic really and not aimed at any particular type?
So i guess if my client has dry skin i will just have to use magnesium and add some glycerine.
We also have to use a Dermalogica mask alongside a clay one during our exam, and i'm a bit worried about that as well, as there doesn't seem to be a Dermalogica one for all skin types/normal skin (maybe there is, but we don't have the full range of masks in college, just a selection). And i will most likely be appling the Dermalogica one to the cheek area (likely to have normal skin).
In regards to the OP's original question, i'd probably have chosen a calamine for the sensitivity, and added some glycerine to address the dehydration, but i'm not too sure... as i'm also learning!
