Essential Oil
Hi,
In aromatherapy, essential oils play an important part. Only a particular essential oil is used for a particular treatment and is very important in curing the ailment. In order to get a good quality essential oil at a competitive price, a little online research is helpful. You can get more information from .
May I ask a naive question...been wondering why no one mentioned Neal's Yard but instead tend to buy online? Is it because of price or quality or service, or there's anything special about the other suppliers?
The reason I ask is that I live literally next door to an Neal's Yard shop so buying from them seems to be the most convenient for me, unless there's any reason for not using them.
I'm an absolute beginner so if this question sounds silly, please still take time to answer...I've already bought 2 e.o.s from them and a base massage oil as I have no idea there are other suppliers out there (except H&B which I understand don't offer the equivalent level of quality), and I can't tell the difference yet as my nose is not professionally trained...
And how about the ones offered in Body Shop? It's also within walking distance to my place...
Aromatherapy practitioners tend to buy with a practitioner's discount from main suppliers (usually online or by phone) and only as Patchouli says when they run out do they go to a highstreet store.
Having said this I would buy Neal's Yard essential oils, but not Body Shop.

Many thanks for your clarification. 🙂
As a newbie, I bought some oils from Shop Holistic - they seemed of poor quality, all the oils were the same consistency and colour, and when used in a burner they smelled great at first, then all changed to the same dull, cardboardy smell. I am glad I didn't use them on anyone's skin! Thats what I get for being a cheapskate I guess 🙂
I am tempted by new directions but they are of similar price to shop holistic - has anyone else got experience of using these companies for buying professional aromatherapy products?
essential oils
If you feel tempted by New Directions then go with them I have used them in the past amongst other companies. As some companies stock more of the unusual oils than others.
You won't be disappointed in them.
Eileen.
Are Neals yard essential oils good quality?
Has anyone used essential oils from Neals yard. I have in the past and liked their quality and I dont think that expensive. I need to buy lots of bottles very soon and was wandering what you guys think and any other suggestions would be much appreciated.
Young Living makes amazing therapeutic grade essential oils. I use their ART skin care range that contains essential ils and it is amazing. My whole family drinks Ninxia red daily and we also use Theives oil as a household cleaner as its fab at killing mold! We also diffuse oils throughout the house and I seriously cannot recommend them enough. Check out or shoot me a message for more info.

Essential oil suppliers
Hi, I have been getting my essential oils from a company called Just Aromatherapy, I usually spend around £20 at a time on oils and they give me a free essential oil when you spend a certain amount (i think around £12 the last time) and postage is £1.95 and sent to me by 1st class post, i dont think that is too mutch to spend on postage.
The first time i placed an order i phoned them and they were very good, but on the last 2 times i used there website and my order arrived very quickly. There website is called and seem to be very good, but i have never purchased my oils from any where else other than on ebay, but i wouldnt buy from ebay after using a website like just aromatherapy. I mutch prefer buying from an online company.
Thanks.

Essentially Oils - for just 1 or 2 bottles, they are perfect! They have NO minimum order and NO p&p. They offer a 5% FHT discount and have excellent monthly special offers. Customer Service is excellent.
mantra-aromatherapy - if you only need a few 10ml bottles, they offer superb value at that size! Their prices include VAT and customer service is excellent.
Hello - happy new year!
I use the Neal's Yard Remedies oils, and have done for about 20 years (long before I even qualified as an aromatherapist!). Like most other companies they also do a practitioner's discount which you need to apply for - and this gives a discount on the EOs plus most of their other products too. They probably do work out slightly more expensive than other brands/companies, but not much more. And I feel that you are def getting better quality for your money.
Reason I like their oils is that they do mostly organic oils (certified by the soil association) which I personally prefer, and the quality is always fantastic. I've compared my EOs from Neal's yard with other brands and have used other brands when I've not been able to get to neal's yard and the quality is never quite as good from other places. Sadly, neal's yard have reduced their range of EOs as it used to be much better and have all the less easy to find oils - but the ones they do have are brilliant and I wouldn't use any other now.
There are lots of other great EO companies out there, and it's almost down to personal preference and also trial and error. Often you will find you have oils in your box from about 4 different companies as one does a better orange than another etc.
Hi all
I buy from Neals Yard, Tisserand, Amphora [bit cheaper but good quality], and was told by my aromatherapy tutor that Absolute Aromas, Baldwins and Culpepper are also good ones. Hope this helps!
I have only bought from , they have such a great selection for organic essential oils and now I have just seen Miessence have organic essential oils for sale, I always loved their products.
I don’t know companies who produce their own organic essential oils and carrier oils, even if they make a small selection they would be on top of my list because I hate middle men.
Oh and I am just a trip away from Bath as soon as I get paid, I want to go and see the Culpeper’s own shop, I have never been in a shop that sells such a selection of essential oils

If you are looking for a producer that growns & distills all there own essential oils. You should check out . They grow all there own oils organically with no artificial fertilisers or pesticides! Since there is no middle men they are also quite cheap!!
my favorite essential oil supplier
After having tried many oil suppliers and having spent lots of $ testing wonderful oils I have to admit that my two favorite suppliers are:
Snow Lotus
&
Young Living
My number one is Snow Lotus. The company was created by a highly recognized aromatherapist who offers seminars and classes all over the world. He travels the world to find organic distilleries and selects only the best for his essential oil line.
As Far as YL is concerned they have consistent high quality oil, they are just a much larger company. Their frankincense is quite amazing, I highly recommend trying it.
Quinessence,bad customer service
Is it just me or what.Has Quinessence got enough customers so they don`t care to treat buying customers nicely?
I only buy from places with nice customer service and I think I`ll buy somewhere else from now on:cool:
If you have some great suggestions about essential oil shops, please let me know.

I used to buy from Amphoria Aromatics regularly but recently came across a new company Simply Essential UK Aromatherapy essential oils and natural products which you may want to have a look at. Their essential oils are a really reasonable and you can order quite a lot and only pay one postage price which I think was £2 or thereabouts. Ive bought quite a few times now and they came within a day or two so fantastic all round. 😀
Hi,
This is just to let people know that Essentially Oils based in Chipping Norton has been taken over. We are aware of some customer service issues that has held up some orders. I hope to review these issues when I'm in their offices this Friday.
We hope to get back to a normal trading position as soon as possible.
Brianb
Hi Brianb,
That is excellent news, as I have been using them for the last 2 years and was very happy with them. Unfortunately, since Christmas, there have been quite serious hiccups and a few unfulfilled orders - looking forward to re-establishing good relations again

Quinessence aromatherapy
Hi!
Do you guys know why Quinessence charges more money from clients if you live outside Uk (in Europe)??
Europians must pay more and of course; they don`t get the free delivery as folks in UK:rolleyes:
When you go to Quinessence sites, you can choose with a button whether you live in UK, Europe or rest of the world...
I`ve never seen this kind of discrimination of clients:mad:
If the postal costs are higher, that I can understand but I don`t understand why you have to pay more fot the product if you live elsewhere:eek:
I have used calmer solutions for my oils for years, and find them unbeatable for quality. I find Aromatherapy Massage is one of my most requested therapies, and feel if I were using cheaper low quality oils this wouldn't be the case. I want my customers to gain maximum benefit from the therapies I offer so using good quality products is essential for me.
