I need to help an elederly person with severe corns on the feet. Anyone had any success in making an aromatherapy blend to soften really hard corns on the feet - so they eventually go away?

Conventional treatment is to apply salicylic acid in cream or with plasters.

I'm thinking of making a cream or gel with garlic, lemon and tea tree. Or maybe instead of a cream or gel, to deliver more intense moisturisation by blending the essential oils into a coconut oil (wax) base or even vegetable glycerin.

Any ideas for blends plus other foot care approaches would be welcome.

Have you tried myrrh and lavender? And Sweet Almond oil carrier is the one I'd suggest.

(Where in North Wales? I'm in mid-Wales.:))

I ended up giving lemon essential oil to apply topically to the corns 3 - 4 times a day. Another Aromatherapist told me that he has had success with this essential oil with the corns eventually disappearing

I've also recommended applying Shea butter to the soles of the feet last thing at night to help soften the hard skin on the feet.

The person I'm helping has been to the chiropodist and has had all the corns removed. My 'kit' is being held in reserve in case the corns reappear.
